[Bug] "system attempted to load an incorrectly-formatted asset some assets will not display" when enabled UHD/DLC

Game Version:

  • AOEii DE 101.101.34223.0 / Enhance Graphics Pack 101.101.34055.0
  • Microsoft Store
  • Windows 10 1909 ( 8 core Intel CPU, 128GB Memory and 5700 video card)

Issue:

After download and enable UHD/DLC. System prompted “system attempted to load an incorrectly-formatted asset some assets will not display”.

  1. Tried uninstall & install several times. not working.
  2. Tried remove & re-create profile. not working
  3. never install any mod.
  4. log mentioned " high-resolution assets = YES"

I solved it after disabling “no useless plant” mod. Hope it helps

I am facing same issue, I only get this error when I install the enhanced graphics pack,

Game Version

  • AOE2DE 101.101.36906.0.0
  • Microsoft store
  • Windows 10 pro 1909 Build : 18363.815 ( NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, i9-9900 CPU at 32GB)
  • No installed mods

I reinstalled and deleted all files related to the game several times but it still doesn’t work. Kindly help me out.

I also faced the same issue, fortunately I used steam to download the game. If you’re using steam then do the following:
Right click on your game in the steam library > Click Properties > Local Files tab > Verify integrity of game files.
This should check if all your game files are in order and redownload if any file is corrupt.
