[BUG] Terrain grid not very visible with white, and anti-alias issues

Game Version:

  • Build: 36906
  • Platform: Steam
  • Operating System: Windows 10

Issue:

I enabled terrain grid, and made ~50% white, but it barely even looks like it’s working. I can only see very, very faint lines…

56% white:

50% white in different area of map:

At 100% white, it looks like this (looks weird, with anti-aliasing issues). Also if you zoom in, the lines look like marching ants, when zooming out pulses of brightness happen (see video below):

50% black on the other hand, is easy to see; looks pretty solid/stable – no jaggies:

Even 26% black is visible (maybe should arguably be a bit more visible, because 20% black is barely visible, and 15% is impossible to see; so there’s room to work with on the opacity scale):

Here’s 100% black:

Videos:

100% white. Notice the faintness and weird visual flares that happen when zooming in/out
*[Placeholder. Forum not letting me upload video. I try to upload a short .mp4 like I always do, but get error: “Sorry, the file you are trying to upload is not authorized (authorized extensions: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, txt).”

100% black, for comparison. (No dizzying flares like white.)

Even 56% black performs pretty well

Reproduction Steps:

Here’s how to reproduce the problem:

  1. Hill Fort map
  2. Enable Terrain Grid for Building Placement Only
  3. Set Terrain Grid to 56% white
