Me too. He’s truly insidious. But I really don’t want this whole thread to consist of just replies talking about trolls. I know I brought it up, but it was an attempt to redirect the discussion back to the topic, not further diverge from it.
To me most of the forum feels like that at the moment. Serious topics get derailed by insults and off-topic posts, and there are loads of trollpost topics saying things like “Incas should be renamed to _____ because they didn’t have a writing system” and “Bohemians are a massive umbrella civ that needs to be split”. It’s mostly balance threads that seem to sustain much sensible discussion.
On the other hand, I think it’s kind of hard to say much about this suggestion. If there was an official campaign for Magyars, then Corvinus seems like a natural choice – especially since they get the Corvinian Army tech. There’s clearly plenty of material for a campaign, and it’s appealing that it would involve lots of different civs as both enemies and allies. But I don’t have anything to contribute to the idea, since I don’t know enough about him, or any creative ideas for the scenarios.
I think the importance of having “correct” civs for AI players is sometimes overstated. There are cases in the official campaigns where scenarios were updated when new civs were added, and it makes sense, but I think it usually doesn’t actually improve them. (e.g. Is the Catalaunian Fields really better now it has Romans instead of Byzantines?) So although you might ideally want Croatian and Vlach civs for this campaign, it would be fine to pick stand ins – perhaps making some modifications to their tech trees in the scenario editor. It’s much more important for the player’s civ, because they need to know what their tech tree and bonuses are, and the scenario editor doesn’t have a way of changing the interface to communicate that.
Excuse me? Everyone’s a hypocrite. I at least try not to be.
Lmao now Garg is angry at you, I thought you two were chill

Maybe now we can actually get on topic. It feels like all the trolls have come out of the woodwork lately.
This is a very good campaing! I congratulate you. Incidentally, I like the Honfoglalás scenario very much. So, with that standalone and a campaign like the one you’ve designed, Magyar history would have solid representation in the game.
This is a great idea, the Magyars really need a campaign and given that the Vlachs are not in AoE2 but have a campaign, it would be a great opportunity to make such a DLC. You cannot go wrong with Matthias Corvinus, it was the best King of Hungary, I’m looking forward to play this campaign if ever added or a mod is made.
Regarding your discussion with RealMatrim2, I do not understand why is he so upset that you make Balkan suggestions, what is wrong with the Balkans?
We are on a forum about a game we love, talking about a game we love, which includes suggestion. Maybe it sounds like spam to you because you don’t like it but you might as well call the East Asian topics “spam” except in that case I assume you do like East Asia so that’s the real reason, it’s only spam cause you don’t like it.
I do not have a Hungarian background by the way, and would love this campaign.
What is wrong that he does not speak any word of German but has an aristocratic background from Germany? I have a Greek background but do not speak any Greek, what about this you find so weird? it’s not like language is coded in your DNA. Move a German kid to America and he won’t speak any German.
Kind of a weird response from you to be honest.
Yes, a Balkan DLC would be a rather natural time to add a Magyar campaign, since the Dracula campaign would no longer use the Magyars for part of it. My Balkan DLC idea included four civs, but a likely one would only include two, and (let’s say it’s the Serbians and Vlachs) if the Serbians received a campaign, that would leave room for Magyar and Turk campaigns, with the normal amount of three new campaigns, since the Dracula one is already a base game campaign and would simply be given to the Vlachs, a la Prithviraj.
At the time I made the post, there were a lot of posts and discussions about a future Balkan DLC, and I guess he was just tired of the subject.
Exactly. Plus, my paternal ancestor who actually had a noble background renounced it, moved to America, and opened a tavern. A real prince-to-pauper story. I suppose if he hadn’t done that, my entire clan would be better off, but all of the members would be different and I and my family wouldn’t exist, so…I’m glad he did that.
He just doesn’t like me for some reason, and I’m not really sure why. I haven’t done anything to offend him that I know of.
I don’t doubt what you say. I have seen how “civilized” this forum can be. It’s basically mob rule rather than any form of reasonableness.
Sad but real story on this forum. There was this guy who got called “cringe” and then he took offense and called the other guy “cringed” in return. Then a 3rd guy Zaphiron01 came in, and only took an issue/called cringe the 2nd guy for fighting back. Not with the guy who started this “cringe-thing” in the first place. The 2nd guy who got called cringe pointed out Zaphiron01’s double standards. Zaphiron01 said that eye for an eye is dumb, this is why he has more issue with him rather than the one who started it, but at the same time feels forced to defend himself now that he is in this mess (so eye for an eye, which he himself says it’s dumb), anyway, the 2nd guy points this out and then gets banned by the moderator, despite him not being the one who started it and that guy Zaphiron01 obviously having double standards and being in the wrong here. I intervene telling the 2nd guy that it’s not worth it, there are better ways to spend your time, that it’s not about justice but simply you hate what they like and like what they hate. And I get banned for 1 week for saying it.
And the icing on the cake, the 3rd guy, Zaphiron01, liked my post where I said to the 2nd guy “yes Zaphiron01 is wrong but he doesn’t care that he is wrong, to him it’s not about being wrong”. He basically admitted that yes I have double standards, towards you and the 1st guy, and towards what I expect from you and what I do, and I don’t care.
So with Zaphiron01 admitting he was in the wrong the moderator decides to ban the 2nd guy for retaliating and me for telling him that even if he is right this is not going to help you with anything, there are better ways to spend your time.
So to summarize, the 1st guy who started it nothing happened to him, the 2nd guy who was fighting back got banned for fighting back, the 3rd guy who only took an issue/called cringe the 2nd guy for fighting back and had some dead obvious double standards (like you are worse than the 1st guy who started it cause eye for an eye is dumb, and then I’m in this mess so I have to defend myself (so eye for an eye)), nothing happened to him, and me the 4th guy who told the 2nd guy to stop it’s not worth it even if you’re right got banned.
This pretty much explains why there are so many trolls on this forum.
I try to avoid getting tangled in these now, and you should probably do too.
As even intervening to say “it’s not worth having this discussion even if you’re right, there are better ways to spend your time” can lead you to getting banned. But being the guy who started it or the guy who defends the one who started but attacks the one who retaliated is no issue apparently.
So yeah, don’t expect any rule of common sense on this forum. ![]()
Now let’s get back to the topic and ignore the trolls.
A Balkan DLC indeed has the unique “perk” that only 1 extra campaign is needed, since we already have Dracula’s campaign for Vlachs. Although that campaign could really use a rework, historically is very… inaccurate, but the Magyars and Turks would be the natural campaign addition. It would also be 3 very connected campaigns just like Dukes of the East, with Mayars - Corvinus, Vlachs - Dracula, Turks - Mehmed the Conqueror. And for Serbs I think Stefan Dusan is the MVP, the short-lived Serbian Empire.
I can empathize with what you say, but if you want to discuss this further, you should probably do it in DMs. I don’t want to get off-topic on this thread too much.
I don’t want to either, I only want to discuss about the topic at hand.
