Recently there has been a resurgence of cases when a player “hacks” lobby settings and does things such as:
- Changing his opponent’s civ to whatever he wants
- (new one) changing team settings to, for example, get unevenly sized teams in TGs, or… apparently it can be done in 1v1s as well to completely bug out the game.
There is an account which provoked me into making this thread - ᏖᎩᎮᏋ ᏕᎧᎷᏋᏖᏂ – AoE4 World - he abuses lobby settings in 1v1 ranked matches to place both players in one team, this completely bugs out the game and apparently awards him a win.
Now, this particular player obviously should be banned (I am hoping a single report is enough for that), but this won’t fix the underlying issue. Why does the game allow client-side changing of lobby settings in the first place? And this isn’t anything new, I recall reading about the cases of forcibly changing opponent’s civ over a year ago.
I am hoping that devs can put more attention on the matter, because this stuff has potential to REALLY ruins the multiplayer experience, more than maphacking ever could, especially if it becomes more widespread.
