Hello all- I’ve been playing AOE II DE since about a year after its original launch. All of my games are played with people in my household, so LAN lobbies are the preferred option. LAN used to work until about 1 year ago…it was seamless and we could see a LAN lobby and join it as easily as any other lobby. Now when I’m trying to host a LAN game, but I consistently have no luck getting the lobby to be visible to anyone on my network, regardless of who hosts the lobby. If I switch the lobby to uswest3, it works, but it introduces unnecessary lag.
Have any of you successfully played with LAN lobbies in the last 6 months?
Here’s a breakdown of my setup:
- Mix of Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines, latest Windows updates applied as of this writing.
- All using the latest AOE II DE version: 101.103.2359.0 (#133431)
- Most clients on Steam, one on Xbox PC
- I’ve done this for all machines involved: https://support.ageofempires.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048249391-I-m-having-trouble-connecting-to-a-LAN-match-with-my-friends and this https://support.ageofempires.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406345438484-I-am-getting-disconnected-from-multiplayer-games
- My network is made up of Amazon Eero devices. All machines on the network can ping each other.
Has anyone else had success lately with LAN lobbies?
