I found a workaround that I thought I’d share, essentially make the display windowed full-screen:

  • set the display to windowed
  • make the window go full-screen outside of the game (i.e. via the OS)

One thing to note, you’ll have to set it to full-screen every time the game launches. Annoying, but probably not a deal breaker.
