Celtic Mythology for Age of Mythology II

@TyrannoNinja I would love Celtic civilisation also but I have to admit that King Arthur and Camelot shouldn’t be here, they refer to the Middle Ages in popular culture, it wouldn’t be too logical… AOM being really geared towards antiquity

The Norse in the game are based on those of the Viking Age, which is already in the Early Middle Ages.

Yes, the Norse are based on vikings. Or rather, Wagnerian interpretations of them.
And while it historically isn’t, in a pop cultural sense, it seems plausible that the culture is far older than the viking age. So in that way, the Norse get away with being medieval vikings by being considered their ancestors. In actual history, bronze age scandinavians primarily worshipped a sun goddess we don’t know the name of.

By contrast, King Arthur and Camelot has a lot of pre-christian celtic stuff in it, but also has a lot of high medieval and especially Christian influences it cannot be fully separated from. In pop culture, the legend of King Arthur is also associated with a time period at least 500 years after the story supposedly takes place, and features equipment (such as full plate armor) that is even another 500 years newer.
To many pop culture enthusiasts, King Arthur without 14th century longswords and 15th century plate armor isn’t King Arthur, even if the story is supposed to take place in the 5th century.
You’d basically have the names and words from the King Arthur mythos, but with the buildings, clothes, weapons, etc from Asterix.
Personally, I’d enjoy that. But I assume I’d be in the minority here.

Yes i personally don’t see camelot stuff in AoM. But i’m more a fan of gaulish celts and not so much into the great britain stuff so maybe i’m a little bit biased idk

Honestly, I for one like the idea of Arthur and his “knights” as ancient Celtic warriors in blue war paint, with Camelot being a big hillfort.

With AoM Retold we got a lot more new triggers in the editor. I think you should try this in the scenario editor instead of just posting this here xD

Yes, I don’t think we’ll have the Arthurian legend in AoMR, but something similar to the Celts of AoE Online (from Brennus to Boadicea) (390 BC-60 AD) (or we could have it around there but in the mythic age) as I said above…
