Change Flemish Revolution

Change Flemish Revolution. It’s a useless tech that can cost you the game if you click on it at the wrong time. Do something, make it give the Flemish Militia some sort of stat buff. All your villagers transforming into Flemish Militia is just plain bad.

Flemish Militia plus 2 attack. There’s one. Or something like lower the food cost of Flemish Militia by 10 or something.

  • The Flemish Revolution believed to be the most hated and pretty useless is a gamble a has two simple suggestions for it
one in big part to remain the same but to let you choose what villagers you want to become a Flemish Militia contra a cost 15 to 20 gold, the gold can be a change in function of balance

Second, as of now, the Flemish Militia can be trained by Barack from the feudal age so you simply put something that buffs the unit now or decreases the cost of gold in exchange for an increase in the cost of food.

Villagers on death turn into flemish militia, like konnick mechanic. Flemish zombies

Agree. No more one time use research. Maybe after researching Flemish Revolution, villagers can become a Flemish Militia for free; and replace gold cost of Flemish Militia in barracks with wood (?)

Making work like Berserks in AoMR.
The technology allows you to instantly transform each villager into a Flemish Militia for a small Gold cost (10 maybe), also Flemish Militia cost changed to 45 Food 10 Gold.
That allows you to covert all of them if you want to but it’s optional.

Generally the Unit should get Shock Infantry Armour class to make them easier to counter and it would make sense since they are very similar to Fire Lancers.

Why would anyone who is playing mindfully click on things randomly?

I know they devs haven’t meaningfully changed FR in 4.5 years, but they HAVE said they want us to tell them what we hate. That’s almost as good right?

I would like to see the Button in use again.
I could see them making the individual vill cost of that tech considerably lower.

Ofc it will take some time to figure out the sweet spot. But I think devs now set up Burgundians in a way where this tech isn’t necessarily the highest priority - but can still be used as a game finisher mechanic as it probably was intended to.

Ofc people will hate it. But that’s ok, we need occasionally stuff to hate in a game - and fight up against it. And as long as there are ways to deal with it when you are prepared it’s actually good for the overall health of the game.

What’s about that ?

  • no more auto conversion of all villagers
  • can convert villagers into flemish militia by spending 15 gold
  • flemish militia recuitable from barracks
  • flemish militia can build military buildings (barracks archery range stables siege workshop) and repair

It would be nice if Flemish Revolution only transformed a part of the villagers to make the technology less all-in. For example, only the lumberjacks. This would allow players to choose how many units they want to transform. And also to place the villagers in advance for better tactic (less messy).

After 120 seconds, the Flemish Militia would turn back into villagers.

The technology could be reused every 10 minutes. Would be fun to have 60 villagers to build a double or triple castle in the middle of the ennemy base :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

No I think it’s crucial that ALL villagers are converted.
To make it a less viable “strategic” option. It should stay as mostly a “game ender” button.
At least in my opinion this would be the healthiest way to keep it in.

The other utiziations could be possibly oppressive and abusable in ways that only leave the “victims” of that hateful. Especially when the flood comes several times, this would be abnoxious.

it’s unrealistic and stupid.realistic would be they transform to militia but keep the ability to work on the fields etc.

no realistic would be they suffer from ptsd and become useless after 5 minutes

What if it was only farmers, I think that is somewhat historically accurate and gives player control on how many villagers are converted. Burgundians usually require lots of farmers and you would easily be able to tell how the units are converted instead of a random button which is added onto the villager.

But farmer requires to make a farm to become a farmer so you it will be annoying. For lumberjack you need to selection your villagers and click a random tree.

I could be a problem also in very very late game with no visible tree ))

That’s why the best solution would be just to select the villagers you want to convert. Whatever they are.

lots of people aren’t. As a kid i would click on techs pretty randomly, hoping i could afford them. This worked since all techs are strictly improvements

there’s enough of that in the game already. do you want me to make a list?

Not really a completely useless tech as it has that 1 in 50 games where it helps win. However, other than that your right, a useless tech.
