Imperial score is not showing
Charlemagne united is not its own hero unit
There’s no “free play” option once you reach an Imperial Score of 100. The match just ends (rather early IMO, with no enemies defeated)

Hi @FernandesI

I believe the issue you have about the imperial score not being shown is due to the mods you have installed. Please try to remove all your mods and play the campaign.

What do you mean by “Charlemagne united is not its own hero unit”?

Thanks for the feedback about the free play, but as you stated, reaching the 100 imperial score completes one of the main objectives of the scenario.

Hi buddy.

Only mod I use is official event “Dress to Impress” Black Knight. Is it the problem?

As stated in the update post:

" * Charlemagne hero updated to existing Charlemagne hero."

I checked a gameplay video from months ago and it’s the same unit as previously - which is not the existing, Throwing Axeman, Charlemagne hero.

Isn’t free play the feature to keep playing after the scenario is won?

@FernandesI None of this looks right: both the hero icon and the objectives on-screen are wrong, but easily explained if you somehow open the old version of the scenario in a current build (with the updated text strings). Did you previously copy/paste the campaign file, or your AoE2DE install folder? Recommend deleting the campaign file and then Verifying Integrity of Game Files to make sure you get the correct game file.

The campaign file can be found in your AoE2DE install folder under:
resources\ _common\campaign\ccam1.aoe2campaign.gpv

No, I never touched game files.

Following your instructions I deleted the campaign file and did the verification but it did not even installed back the deleted file.

Had to uninstall and install V&V again but the scenario remains with the same problems.

Any idea on what might be happening?

Hi. Sorry you’re running into issues with the Charlemagne scenario. It really seems like you somehow still have an old version of the campaign. Would you be able to provide the version number of your game by opening it and taking a screenshot of the lower left of the main menu? It starts with Version 101…

Here it is.

That is the correct version. You said verifying integrity of game files did not re-download the missing campaign file. Could you go to that same folder and delete it entirely? And then do the same process of verifying integrity? I believe you somehow have the old version of the campaign file and not getting the new one. Apologies for the confusion.

No problem!

I’ve deleted the V&V campaign folder and after verification it remains deleted.

Integrity verifying seems to affect only the Age of Empires II- Definitive Edition folder, not the DE DLCs folder… I deleted “acam1.json” as a test and verification indeed installed it back.

I’ve already uninstalled and reinstalled V&V (which I bought recently, after the update) and even the whole game with all DLCs but these bugs remain. Nobunaga and Finehair aren’t uptaded either.

This problem seems to affect only gameplay because the new feature showing estimated completion time for each scenario is visible.

And as long as I can remember Imperial Score is a new feature in the scenario, so it is somehow updated even though not entirely.

There’s no separate V&V campaign folder. Since it didn’t download a new file when you deleted what you believe dto be the campaign folder, I don’t believe you deleted the right thing. Just go to resources_common\campaign\ and you’ll see dozens of aoe2campaign files. Same way you deleted acam1.json, delete all of the files in that folder and then re-verify integrity. That should download everything new and solve the problem. Again, there should be no files in your resources_common\campaign\ folder prior to verifying integrity.

I did it now but nothing changed regarding the gameplay issues I reported.

When you told me to delete ccam1[,].gpv I had to look for it at the V&V specific folder because it is where it was placed. The way the folders are installed in my PC is as shown below:

This is the way every DLC is installed once I download them. Each one of these folders has its own resource_common\campaign folder containing each DLC respective campaign files.

The campaign folder inside the “Age of Empires II- Definitive Edition” folder contains all campaign files up to The Last Khans. This is the only one the integrity verification affects.

I don’t know if it is clear but just to sum up:

Each new DLC installed creates its own new folder. I don’t choose it, it is just the standard when I buy and download them.

V&V files go to resources\ _common\campaign\ folder inside Victors and Vanquished folder, which is not affected when I verify integrity of game files.

Should I place all campaign files in the main resources\ _common\campaign\ folder?

@IvanHCastro any idea on this? That is not a folder structure I’m familiar with.

Unlike Steam, Microsoft Store creates separate product folders for each DLC.

If you have the latest version of the game (127161), you should already have the latest campaign files. Note that it is generally not possible to have outdated or modified campaign files with the latest game update, as such files would otherwise refuse to load. If you can get into the campaign at all, that means the campaign is the perfectly valid latest version.

The version was updated accordingly, only problem is the updated features aren’t featuring as intended.

Anyway, thank you everyone for the effort and attention.

Based on his information and screenshots, he doesn’t have the current version. See, the wrong hero unit, the wrong objective strings (such as a version of the scenario where the Imperial Score variable was undefined, etc.

I am having the exact same issue. I just loaded up the campaign today and after a while of playing I realised my objective read. Imperial Score:

I estimated I should have been at 70 to unlock the imperial age
Convert 3 saxon leaders (+10)
Defeat an enemy (Saxons) (+20)
Find 4 imperial Scholars ( +10 each and one for finding all 4, +50)
This should put me at (+80 and unlock the imperial age but it is still locked and then I was wondering if it means the victory condition won’t trigger since that is for Imperial Score 100.

Information about my game,
I am using the latest version, It won’t launch otherwise
Xbox Version
No Mods used for the campaign
I have also never touched the game files, not even sure where they are saved

Game Version:

If I recall it correctly, Imperial Age is triggered after you achieve a couple specific objectives I can’t remember right now but that are the same conditions as before the update.

Have you played other scenarios? Feith, Komnenos, Nobunaga, and Finehair are with the same bug.

Objectives’ text is updated but gameplay is not.

I just beat the level by defeating everyone but I never got to upgrade to the imperial age.

It states to get to the imperial age you need 70 score, but I definitely passed that and never unlocked imperial age.

I haven’t played the other missions you listed as I only had 4 missions left since the latest update and this was one of them.

The only objective that changed the imperial age was taking Charlemagne to the pope, but that killed him and said the imperial age was no longer possible. I just reloaded my save and kept him safe.

@StepS7578 Possible xbox/Windows version did not update properly?
