Chinese favor mechanism needs rework

As title suggested, Chinese new favored land has major flaw and needs rework to be more versatile. It has the worst favor generation potential that needs to be tuned/buffed. I did some test having 75% map control yellow zone and 15/15 Baoleis and still generating 40+ favor per minute? That amount only equals to about 8 Greek villagers praying at ONE temple.

All other civilizations have ways to boost mid-late game favor to 100+/min at high population. I understand that each civilization has a diminishing return at certain level. A player who plays properly with Kuafu will be severely punished for making any other favor related units or technologies. Kuafus are like dwarves but worse and more expensive and cost ungodly amount of favor to train. Favored land also lacks interaction with Fuxi, it is ok with two other gods but the numbers need design revisit at it current shape. If a player is winning, they starve for favor even when they have significant map control. If a player is behind and tries to bid for late game, they may never get enough favor by defending their main base. This is a very unhealthy situation for any player skill level.

I don’t think the mechanics per se are a problem. I think they are perfect, and I quite enjoy changing my building placement decisions to maximize favor.

The only issue they might have scaling issue, and thats easily fixed by tweaking some numbers.

So no rework, maybe late game buff.

It does need rework for Lightning though… Other civs get boosted but not the Chinese.

But I agree it doesn’t need rework for everything. Chinese are already quite powerful, their favor use is assymmetric by design. It’s their achilles heel

Strongly disagree with this, I’ve watched alot of high level china matches and I think spamming kuafu might be a trap, there are several strats where people actually don’t make a single Kuafu or only 1 extra and spend the rest on myth units to hamper the enemy eco instead. China has been out for a little over a month and that’s not enough time for people to figure everything out. Favor generation is actually quite high for China especially early. I think being favor starved is a sign that you’re making too many kuafu’s, you shouldn’t just make dwarves as Norse when you have an abundance of food and 0 gold, same with chinese.

If this thread is about a bug existing then sorry, I’ve missed the message a little, but I don’t think the favor generation is weak and it’s essentially free by just building.

I haven’t thought about not spamming kuafu because China focus on wood and gold to produce good ranged units and heroes. You have a point and I will do further test without building them. However, I disagree with your argument that its favor mechanism being flawless. If you had experimented and compared its favor gain rate you would have changed your mind a bit. It is clearly lacking behind of all civs. It is also very dangerous to expand without a strong military, more so than praying at a temple or just do normal fighting. Units are scarce and buildings are like butter in AOM than other Age games. Even the best players can’t zoom across the map to defend all favored land.

I agree partially that they WERE powerful before last patch, last patch gutted lots of things and now China’s god power is among the weakest. Its mythic units are still fair but nothing close to Greek level greatness. Its economy is pretty bad without Kuafu.
