What is the reason for aoeIV having such low texture quality and costing 60EUR?
Total war textures are much more detailed and their battles more impactful.
Even battleformiddleearth reforged, which is a free fanmade remake, has more detail and texture than AoEIV.

The dev’s don’t seem to have put this bug on the known issues list yet, I hope they actually fix it.

texture quality does not equate to price, texture quality depends upon engine and game development. It’s technical.

Clearly haha.
In a word, there are three bugs called by the weapon model, namely:
- The original weapons of the spearmen of China, Mongolia and France were not displayed correctly.
- The steel crossbow of a general crossbow will change back to a wooden crossbow because of a bug.
- The weapon shape of the Chinese step bow hand was not correctly upgraded to the golden bow.
Can these three bugs be repaired in the latest patch?
I hope this small problem that does not affect the game but affects the appearance can be repaired as soon as possible!

Allow me to add one more point. When repairing this bug, please do not repair the Chinese Mongolian French spearmen into common weapons. Please keep their respective civilization style weapons.
After all, this will not hinder the judgment of unit type, but also enhance the historical immersion of the game. Thank you!
Some additional new discoveries: after the original setting of Mongolian spearmen was changed (only to Age3), Age3 and Age4 also used different weapons, hoping to make them use the weapons of their own civilization.
Chinese / Mongolian / French Spearman weapon call error:
The spearmen of these three civilizations have their own unique weapon appearance (Chinese halberd, Mongolian spear and axe spear). However, because of some bug, these appearances will only be displayed when approaching the enemy, but usually they will be displayed as a common guisarme.
Changing the appearance of weapons repeatedly in battle undoubtedly affects the visual experience. More importantly, the spearmen of Eastern civilization use European guisarme is also very strange. Therefore, when repairing this bug, please keep their own style weapons and make them display normally under various actions.

Good question. I wonder if it has been “Low priority” since this post, more than a year ago.
I know this is a rather quick fix, there has been a mod for just about as long as the bug has been around.
Unfortunately, we cannot use mods in multiplayer, so I’m bumping this thread.
I believe any visual errors are (mostly) currently at the lowest priority. We’d like to get to them at some point, though!

They still not realize these ridiculous mistakes in S6, DLC did not solve these bugs and even inherited them.
Jesus this is an old BUG from two years ago.
What is more shocking is that both employees who did acknowledge the bug in this thread are both not involved with the project anymore.
I love AoE4, but it is very clearly there has been some extremely dire issues with the development, likely stemming from some form of management issue, or misallocation of funds.

As of the newest update Season Seven there is nothing in the patch notes, I don’t think any of the visual bugs or improvements to the weapons or their very white textures will ever be solved…
