With church in Age 1 civs would could have more options and would be less reliant on trade routes. It would also allow for some new build orders and overall give more strategic options. This would be good for example for: Spain or germans
I wonder what the high level opinion is on the balance aspect. To my average eyes it sounds really tempting to throw one up in the transition.
It would help many civs on non-tp maps, I don’t see how it would unbalance anything because if there are tp’s you’d always build those over the church and you can in age 1 anyway.
At least building and units themselves, at the very least priest, should be available since A1.
Techs can be locked to ages they are tied to now.
I really don’t like not having healing option earlier on.
Other idea would be making surgeons a basic, universal unit trained from TC for civs that have that card.
Just like Ensemble handled that in SWGB
And card itself could send a cart that build new building- a hospital, that grants some very slow global regen, or maybe better- buff to healing rate and/or range.
My suggestion:
Every civ receives a free healer in the Commerce Age (This depends on the civ), like the Mexicans. Priest/healers cost no pop, but have a limit.
Kaiserklein agrees it should be an age 1 building, so there are some agreements.
the only thing I would add is that it would be considered a nerf to otto since it was effectively their bonus, but maybe we can buff it
Their church is already better than normal and they build it like every game straight away. Other civs would pretty much just build a church early on non-tp maps.
In addition, we must give a second role to the priests so that the priests and imams are useful, and at the same time make the church more useful.

It makes sense, usually one of the very first buildings on any colony in the Americas was a church.
As for gameplay, I like having more options in the early game. Having an earlier church would speed up shipments and open scouting related upgrades earlier. I don’t think it would mess up the game’s balance too much.
