Hi everyone,
I wanted to start a discussion regarding the Muisca civilization from the latest expansion. While their Monks and Siege Onagers are in a decent spot, their unique military identity feels lackluster, particularly when compared to other American civs like the Mayans. The main culprit here is the Guecha Warrior.
Currently, the Guecha Warrior costs 50 Wood and 60 Gold. For a short-ranged anti-archer unit with a low HP pool, this price tag is completely unjustifiable. For 60 gold, you could look at unique units like the Korean War Wagon, which offers massive HP, armor, damage, and range. Paying heavy gold for an anti-archer unit when standard Skirmishers cost zero gold makes the Guecha a dead unit in competitive play.
To fix the Muisca’s late-game identity and lack of a reliable “semi-trash” option, I propose the following official rework:
1. Drastic Cost Reduction for the Guecha Warrior
- New Cost: 50 Wood / 20 Gold (Down from 50W / 60G).
- Why: This perfectly synergizes with Muisca’s team bonus (Gold mines lasting 15% longer). It turns the Guecha into an affordable, massable support unit to protect Monks and Siege Onagers, effectively replacing the regular Skirmisher as intended by design. I think Muisca at the moment might have the most interesting monks and Guecha Warriors should definetly be the main tool to keep them alive without heavily competing on their major gold pool. They totally depend on gold since their regular trash units are absolutely horrible and likely the worst in game, so as long they have gold they should be a threath on all aspects: Monks are amazing, Temple Guardian is very nice and one of my favourite units, for me it’s a very balanced tanky and valuable dps source if it can reach the target, their crossbowmen are good, definetly not among the best but interesting and monks cover properly their cavalry vulnerability without investing much in other counter units, their champi is also very interesting because it’s very fast and tanky at the same time making it comparable to Eagle Warrior while being more similar to an heavy cavalry unit. So paradoxally their only weak spot at the moment is exactly in the archer counter unit since both their skirmisher and Guecha Warrior are either very bad or too expensive to be worth using, and it’s an absurd paradox for a unique castle unit, basically making Castle completely useless for Muiscas if not for Conscription and Trebuchets.
2. Production and Balance Trimming
- Slightly increase the training time / reduce training speed.
The latest expansion sadly felt mediocre because it mostly introduced underwhelming mechanics, with the only notable highlight being a temporary oversight (the Dark Age Champi 4 attack). Implementing this specific Guecha rework would give Muisca a unique, fun, and strategically sound identity without breaking the game.
What are your thoughts on this?
