Civ with Castles that shoot extra bullets?

I swear I played a civ recently where castles shot a spray of gunpowder or arrow type bullets in addition to their normal shooting without needing garrisoned units. I can’t find it. Was I dreaming? It’s hard to look through like 42 civs for this one tiny item, and the closest I could come in a Google search is Tuetons, but you need garrisoned unit(s) for that. Maybe I did garrison before and just forgot

That’s the Persians with their new Citadels tech introduced two years ago.

Awesome! Thank you!

Too bad the info isn’t clearly written anywhere… like saying something about an extra shot given or something

Yeah, the fact that it’s not mentioned is kind of odd. Perhaps the devs think it isn’t relevant considering it’s only a cosmetic change for the most part.

I see brief mention in those old patch notes. Ahh, I guess it is just ‘replaced’ rather than an extra shot, per the patch notes. Still, it’s pretty cool, but yeah, not very well called out in the Tech Tree screens. In fact, I think the patch notes wording is what I recently read somewhere which inspired me to try the Persians and pay attention to that as a test. Was confusing that I couldn’t see this description anywhere in-game:

  • “Citadels (Castles receive -25% bonus damage, arrows replaced with bullets which deal +4 attack, +3 attack vs. infantry, and +3 attack vs. rams).”

It’s also very similar to a secondary effect of a unique tech I gave to my Americans concept for July 4th of the same year, which wasn’t serious but still executed in a serious manner. I either predicted it or inspired it.

Why the cloth over the War Elephant icon looks weird like it has an invisible part?

Oh, that was a bug that was present since the original DE release. I guess they finally got around to fixing it.

You mean here?

Maybe fixed on Tech Tree, but not on the civ selection screen then?

PS: I really wish the Tech Tree had a magnifying glass or CTRL+F search. It’s pretty hard to find stuff if you’re just a casual Tech Tree looker

You’re missing the larger, much more obvious hole to the right of the circled area.

Wow… oops! Funny I missed that

No the larger hole to the right (black part). Damn it looks big now that you zoomed in.

Probably photoshop issue when they crop the background to make the icon files, since that blackaned part should be shimmering white in game

Not white. It should have a design over it.
