It’s worth noting that not all Jurchen tribes were hunters, a large number of them were farmers, and their specialty was horseback archery. Otherwise the civilization is a great idea, and I love to see a campaign based around the fall of the Northern Song dynasty and their struggles against general Yue Fei.
A little pity. After Jin Dynasty established , Jurchens abandoned their Toi Pirates career.
We already have quite a lot of cavalry and cavalry archer civs, therefore I think making them a siege civ would be better
Yes I know that some of them were good at piracy, but still I don’t think it should be a major theme of this civ, they were still more oriented to the land than to the sea.
A piracy-themed civ would be more suitable for the Chams, who were quite active around the South China Sea at this time.
I already made a civ design for the Chams, you could check it if you like: Civilization Idea: the Chams (2023 Update) - Age of Empires II: DE / II - Discussion - Age of Empires Forum
We already have quite a lot of infantry civs and cavalry civs in the game, so that’s why I wanna try something different.
And they were quite good at siege, the fact that they took down 2 large empires in the span of a decade is a testament to that. There were also records about them using catapults to attack Kaifeng in 1126 and using iron-cased bombs against the Song in 1221.
That can actually be good for gameplay and balance reasons while still in accordance with history.I also suggest to design some bonus about catapult.Well, how about adding some infantry or cavalry bonuses to them?
