Hi @AzusaNakano3
Would it be possible for you to test this with another controller? Can you tell me the exact model of the one used on the video?
Thanks for the report.

In the video it is the “Wolverine ultimate” but some testing has been done and this issue only happens when you have “Split Select/ Send is Toggled” to (on)

So if we have this setting off we can not recreate this issue anymore and it works like normal. But by having this setting (on) it is a problem with every Xbox controller. Some players would like to have this feature on and right now this seems like a bug and isn’t suppose to work this way.
Can you do some testing on your end also? To confirm this is the issue.

I can reproduce this with the default Xbox One Series S controller so it is not specific to this controller.

Video:

Here is how to reproduce.

  1. Turn Split Select/Send → ON
  2. Select some units. This is not necessary but having the ‘X’ Prompt helps to get the timing right.
  3. Hold A to start the selection Marquee but release A just before the Marquee appears. You can watch the ‘X’ Prompt shrinking on the Central UI and release just before the ‘X’ disappears.
  4. The selection Marquee will expand to it’s maximum and stay on the screen even though A is released.

Here is what I believe is happening here:

There is a very short time window that registers A as a press and deselects.
There is a small time window that registers A as being held and starts the selection marque.
There is a very short time gap between the maximum time for a ‘press’ and the minimum time for a ‘hold’.
If you hold A during this time window in the gap you get this unexpected behavior.

There are 2 other bugs when Split Select / Send is ON:

You can see in the video some units will appear to have 0 health in their health bar.

The other bug I reported already Xbox [ Split Select / Send → On ] removes Y Shortcuts from unit production buildings - Age of Empires II: DE / II - Report a Bug - Age of Empires Forum
