Tbh royal dragoons are pretty tame until heavily carded.
Yeah they aren’t nearly as bad as chevys, but at double the melee DPS of normal Dragoons I think they’re a little overtuned vs skirms. They were designed alongside chevys and hakkas and the devs were seemingly oblivious to the problems those units could cause so it’s warranted to give them a second look. Part of what keeps them in check is their weird design of high melee paired with very long range but not so high damage. With those antagonistic roles they kinda underperform unless really microed.
I think it’s been fixed, but I ran tests on RDs a while ago. The gunshots would sound before firing. That made hit and run nearly impossible because a move command would cancel the projectile after the bang. I saw something in the change logs a while ago that seemed to imply it had been fixed, at least to me.
The big difference between them and Chevys is Chevys have much higher base hand attack. So it’s not near as necessary to nerf them. That plus what you already mentioned.
