Unique Technologies
Malon
A punitive raid carried out by Mapuche warriors, the malon hung like a dark cloud over the Mapuche’s Spanish foes. Its objectives could variously entail conquest, plunder, or revenge.
Effect: Bolas Riders, Slingers, and Skirmishers deal pass-through damage.
Butalmapu
When facing a new threat, Mapuche tribes formed the butalmapu. Far more than a mere military alliance, the butalmapu was a sacred pact that united the valiant Mapuche warriors under one banner.
is this just a better version of the Franks’ bonus then?
sounds very strong in the current meta
oh, fuck off. at least they won’t have many cav units.
the big question: does this trigger once the building is started or once it appears? How does this currently work for Vietnamese and the enemies’ initial town centers on nomad maps?
this has to be expensive, this is very strong.
i assume this also affects their own units, otherwise it’s shit to have a team game only tech. could make for some fun team compositions.
keshik generate so little gold that the bonus is completely pointless anyway
keshik generate the gold while fighting, so as the keshik player you don’t need to worry about last-hitting like in league of legends
keshik aren’t ranged, so it’s harder to keep the alive in trash wars. eventually they’ll be whittled down, not so with a fast ranged unit (that can even aoe-snare its targets)
I don’t think UUs should have gimmicks. aoe2’s beauty comes (or at this point came) from its simplicity of design giving rise to complex gameplay. instead, now every civ and UU gets some dumb mechanic, which usually doesn’t actually affect how the unit gets used.
It’s so sad that something so cool has been destroyed, and the devs don’t even seem to realise what they have done.
FYI for you, if you click the link to see the full civ tech tree, and then switch the “Mapuche” part of the URL with Tupi or Muisca you can see the other civs tech trees as well.
