:play_button: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

:backhand_index_pointing_down: DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

Pathfinding was broken AGAIN.

Units almost NEVER can find the path if there are something close to the goal object.

The bug was introduced in April. And it seems nobody cares. There are two points of this topic – “the bug” and “why the new patch make things worse and it has not been covered by hotfix”.

:play_button: REPRODUCTION STEPS

:backhand_index_pointing_down: List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Put lumbercamp close to wood.

  2. Send the first villager to work.

  3. Set gather point from TC to the same tile.

  4. Create one new villager.

The same effect can be reached in many many ways. Attack an enemy house with vils ? 5 of 10 vils will do, other 5 will get stuck. Send villagers to build smth? 5 of 10 vils will get stuck again.

This behavior is not only for vils, but vils are affected most of all.

:backhand_index_pointing_down: What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

New villager will go and start to cut the same tree.

A workaround (for the woodline issue) is to intentionally set the gather point on the wrong tree. Apparently, if a villager collides with an object near its target it will retarget to something else. So what I’ve started doing is just setting the gather point to the corner tree for both villagers on that side: the first villager doesn’t get blocked so it start chopping that tree, and the second villager gets block so it retasks to the closest available target, which happens to be the desired tree.

I’m not sure if it’s related, but villagers tasked to attack a building will block each other so only a few will attack the building.

“Focus on corner tree” is a nice trick, yeap. In some other situations I also use shift-trick – not only right click desired object but add +shift to the same object 2-3 times. Often it’s enough to help stupid units to find the path.
