The game is just horrible and unpleasant. Is it really that hard to make a decent DLC? You don’t need to be a genius to create a good one. The Demeter DLC is a complete disaster , unpleasant and extremely boring. In team games it has turned into an endless ceasefire, with armies standing still unable to do anything while being attacked by towers and archer spam, all thanks to the god power called Arcadian Meadow. On top of that, because of that god power, opponents just spam fortresses all over the map , completely awful. Do you really think people have all the time in the world to wait for Arcadian Meadow to end?? NO.
The god power Underworld Invasion is a terrible idea , now the game is just unit spam across the entire map. Completely horrible.
Adding another technology for archer spam like Fated Arrows is a terrible idea. Isn’t Enyo’s Bow of Horror already enough??? And you don’t even give the Norse a unit to counter that??
Do you really think it’s a good idea to add a flying hero who is powerful and resistant to arrows like Icarus? Icarus is practically an immortal hero , how many archers do you even need to defeat him?? Did you really think about the Norse? The Norse don’t have long-range units to counter him!
My final score for the Demeter DLC is 0 out of 10 because it simply made the game worse and ruined it with absurd god powers.
This DLC is a bit more rushed compared to Freyr’s, obviously.
The things that bothers me the most are the Harpy from the fortress (she should spawn from temple) and her horrible special attack, the choice of Hephaestus, Hamadryad tree that does not count as military unit, the Lycaon that transforms only when completely idle etc.
Some of these things are easily fixable, but still.
Though, if you knew BornWinter history of made up scenarios, unwillingness to conversation, offences, openly showing up moderator messages and fighting one of them in a topic because all his FOUR threads about the SAME topic (premades teams are unfair…, yeah, apparently is a crime to have friends ) in less them a year were merged together, Im not sure you’d be defending this troll. You dont need to believe me, though, just check the primary sources, aka BornWinters topics and replies on their profile.
Btw, its also the fourth time this great user is talking, in the very first message of their topic, about the lack of “long range units” to Norse, even though they have Ballista, a long range siege unit (yeah it does “not” count because its siege), they have two units dedicated to counter archers (they do “not” count because… they are melee and 20 of them will die trying to dive into… 60-80 archers) and Norse were designed to not have long range archers (it does “not” count, everything has to follow BornWinter’s Bible, otherwise its wrong).
I was talking about BornWinter, not you. I was comparing him to the guy who kept making threads about Romanians and the one who kept asking for buffs for AoE2 Turks.
Please (and I can say with good certainty I speak for 99% of the community) just go back to Legacy or some other game you like. You clearly don’t enjoy AOMR, and the devs, rightfully, aren’t listening to your requests to have them spend thousands of money and man-hours to cater to your rather immature whims and tantrums. Why not just go play a game you actually like and leave AOMR to those who do enjoy it?
I’m not interested in your opinion about me , this is a debate forum about Age of Mythology Retold. The only solution you keep repeating in every thread is the same thing that a medi0cre person would say: “if you don’t like the new game, just go back to Legacy game”“the 99% vs the 1%.” Don’t you realize that’s pathetic?
Does it need improvement? Yes! But is Demeter a “complete disaster”? Far from it! In fact, I quite liked the display of divine powers, especially the “banquet table” (I don’t remember the correct name). May more civilizations come! Gods…
Demeter’s “special unit” is that thing there, but Hades’ and Poseidon’s are much better. Demeter should have an infantry unit like the Myrmidons… It’s messed up that they didn’t implement a special human unit like everyone else has in the Fortress. All the civs have at least one special unit… Greeks have Myrmidons, Hetairoi… Egyptians have War Elephants, etc… Atlanteans have the Destroyer and the Fanatic… Norse too… Why does Demeter only have that crappy unit? It’s bizarre.
Ok, I’m a medi0cre person and pathetic, fantastic - but you still haven’t answered the question. Why are you still playing if you clearly don’t enjoy anything about it, any change, any dlc or new god?
