DEVS, could you make the LAN option actually playable offline?

As of right now, you need to be connected online to be able to play on LAN.
Maybe they don’t understand LAN?
Thanks

It’s kinda stupid, but lowers the piracy rate

Do you think that it could change? We still have LAN parties and would like this feature back. We’ve been LAN’ing AOE3 since 2005 and now with DE we cannot sometimes due to issues. We all own our own copies.
Is this a highly pirated game?

Banning offline LANs is actually a very good anti-piracy measure.

Do you have any evidence that proves having a LAN option increases piracy? For 30 years, thousands of games have offered LAN options. Don’t you think if it was an issue LAN would have never been an option?

I don’t have the energy and resources to get empirical information. But I have the logical reasoning ability of normal people.
If you and your friends want to play games via LAN, you only need to be in the same LAN indoors with WIFI or network cables.
If you are outdoors, even in the absence of WIFI, you can open a hotspot through your mobile phone for you and your friends to connect through the hotspot. As long as you have verified online through steam, you can also play LAN games.
Unless you guys have a cracked version of the game that doesn’t connect to the internet, I don’t see why this is necessary.

Thanks for attacking my reasoning ability. That’s real big of you.
The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. You probably know that though, since you have “normal person” reasoning.
Why didn’t the DEVS just remove the option then? I think that you think you know everything and that everyone else is an idiot. Good for you for protecting the forums from the unclean masses.

First, I am not making any “claims” so I have no burden of proof.
Second, the reason why I think that LAN games require online authentication can logically deduce that it can at least block (or at least reduce) the possibility of pirated game players enjoying the fun of online battles. As a result, players wishing to play against friends or strangers had to purchase genuine games.
Third, LAN games make sense because LAN tends to be more stable than connecting via a server, and I think that’s the main reason why the developers didn’t remove this feature.
Fourth, I don’t think I know everything.
Fifth, I don’t think other people (including you) are idiots.
Sixth, I don’t understand what the so-called “unclean masses” mean, and I don’t have the will or motivation to “protect” the forum in this sense.

I’m sorry if I offended your logic Mr. Vulcan. But if I may, you stated “Banning offline LANs is actually a very good anti-piracy measure.” This is a claim. Therefor requires proof of such claim to make a valid argument.

Your Majesty should not concern him/her self with such minor quibbles. You have your mighty kingdom of forums to attend to, not to be bothered by a lowly peasant such as myself.

This post was directed to the developers to address not to have bothered Your Majesty. My sincerest apologies.

Live long and prosper.

First, I have given the process of my deduction. You can think that my reasoning process is flawed or that the conclusion is too arbitrary. But I am under no obligation to provide you with direct evidence, as that would consume my time and energy. And some indirect evidence is obvious. For example, compared with around 2000, more and more games have deleted the LAN function in the last ten years. This is very obvious in RTS games.
I hope you can discuss the issue peacefully and not in a sarcastic tone directed at me personally.
I find your sarcasm so boring that I doubt your mental age. After all, not everyone has good thinking and communication skills.
Finally, I wish you a happy game and hope you can get a response from the developer.

I respond to you because I help you as a player with a question that needs to be answered. But after I gave my idea, you asked me to give relevant evidence, so I had no choice but to show you my reasoning process. In this regard, you did not have appropriate logical thinking or further reasonable exploration of this topic, but made boring irony at me.
Therefore, my response is based on goodwill and a candid and straightforward communication attitude to the problem, but you are just immersed in your own fantasy, unable to raise any reasonable doubts about the views you do not agree with, but attacking personally.

Also, for your other question, here is my response:
My response to you on the forums didn’t take much effort compared to doing a broad and precise survey of the gaming industry. And I’m happy to share my thoughts with others, to have constructive discussions, and to refute false shallow opinions. That’s why I wasted my tiny amount of energy responding to you.
