Most of the nations of Eastern Europe have their own states - as you can see, their consciousness has survived for hundreds of years. But the umbrellas civs for her annoy you.
That’s what my approach is in every game. Considering that usually European ones are the first to be included in every game, it’s natural that the requests will be non-European XD.
You wrote that the Germans are covered a Central-Eastern Europe.
No…
Does the Indians civ covered a SEA countries? I don’t think so.
It was a discussion about AoE 2.
It matters because we now see the difference between Western Europe and Eastern Europe. Western Europe is a great mono-ethnic country. Eastern Europe has many states, but still a few nations do not have their own states (and are even being persecuted at present).
Any current Western European country can find its representation in this game. The nations of Eastern Europe are not represented. The Slavs are a great representation … but the Ruthenians !!! West Slavs and South Slavs do not have their representation. I am a Pole, a Slav. It would be selfish of me to require only Slavic civs in the East European DLC. Finno-Ugric (it would be a huge civ umbrella) and Romanians (three great states in the middle ages) would accompany the Slavs in this DLC.
No
Poland is famous and popular. It’s obvious that everyone sees it missing from the game.
Oh my lord. I read the whole topic and got the sad conclusion that this forum is a quite toxic community that I better stay away. But first let me get my thoughts:
I sincerely have the impression that 80% of the criticisms towards the inclusion of the American civilization on game is much more based on political hatred towards the USA than anything else.
It’s a fantasy game. There is a lot of anachronic things and the game does not need to be 100% historical accurate. There are several other nations already in the game that have anachronic characteristics worst than the USA from the time period, and I don’t see a fraction of the complaining about then, which reinforces my stands on the point 1.
It’s really getting boring reading all these comments on the likes of: “The Devs must add this, that, that, this one and those other ones civs on the game”. They are so presumptuous.
False, it is historical fiction. Anachronistic units =/= anachronistic civs. It is an AOE game, and more importantly it is a video game – of course there will be inaccuracies for gameplay. However adding the US is as immersion-breaking as adding the Zerg
They are just suggestions. We are giving them money for their product. It is fair game.
It’s not inaccurate. Re-read the topic yourself if you don’t believe me. There are comments of the likes of “we actually HAVE history” and “broken to be able to propagate the will of the dollar” types of comments on the thread.
Fiction and anachronism walk together, and the game are both of then. Anachronism are misplacing people/events out of the time.
When you have personalities like Henry the Navigator that died on 1460 on alongside with Emperor Kangxi (Born in 1654) on the same conflict on Yukon, is a misplace of people and events and characterize a anachronism; When you have Aztecs on the Industrial Age leaded by Cuauhtémoc (Died in 1521) fighting against the Holy Roman Empire lead by Frederick the Great (Born in 1712) on the Amazonia map, there a people/events out the time, and classifies a anachronism; When Russia and India fighting on Sonora are also a anachronism. And I can keep going with the list.
All of this is as much as anachronic as the addition of the US on the game, and I don’t see a fraction of the hate direct towards those events. (Edit just to make it clear: Hate towards those events should not happen as well, because the game is just a fantasy game. I’m just giving examples to give the argument that does not make sense for people complaining that the United States are anachronistical to the time period and should not be added to the game, when the game itself is anachronistical.)
Again, this only reinforces my first comment.
But people are being extremely rude and bossy about it. And it’s not a suggestions when words like “must”, “ASAP” and statements like “they got to”, “the only sensible decision”, “now they have to”, etc. Are present in the majority of the comments. Sounds much more like orders, and is pretty arrogant. Looks to me that people think that the developers are their subordinates and they are their bosses. That’s not how it works.
It is very easy to develop a Persian civ, in terms of units
For ships, they should introduce Dows and Gallivats too, which then could be given to teh Indians, because having European Ships as the Mughals, is weird.
They shouls also give more Ship uogrades for the European civs, too.
Caravels and Galleons get old, fast.
This is how I would do Persians:
Garrison Barracks (strong and expensive recruitment building that can be garrisoned and produces all non-Gunpowder units):
-Gholam Archer (Archaic Archer)
-Gholam Axeman (Archaic Hand Infantry)
-Quizilbash (Light Hand Cavalry with a Lance)
-Qurchi Rider (Heavy Hand Cavalry with an Axe)
Gunnery Barracks (building that trains all Gunpowder units):
-Jayayerchi (Skirmisher with long Range attack, but lower rate of fire, and very low Hand combat damage)
-Tofangchi (Musketeer with a shorter Range than normal, but more HP and damage)
-Zamburak (like the Indians one, which actually came from Persia)
-Zamzama Gun (Falconet equivalent)
-Fesang Battery (Rocket unit variant to the Culverin)
Docks:
-Dhow (Caravel variant that has more HP and is more expensive)
-Gallivat (Galleon variant that is cheaper and has less HP and Damage)
-Ghurab (Frigate variant that has less Damage but has a stronger Broadside attack)
-Monitor
Features:
-Non-Gunpowder units train faster with Age Ups
-Gunpowder units train slowly, but can have batches of 7
-Starts the game with a Consulate Rickshaw
-Export accumulates faster
*Mughal unit shipments:
-4 Sepoy
-2 Sepoy and 1 Flail Elephant
-2 Mahout Lancers
-4 Sepoy, 1 Mahout Lancer and 2 Siege Elephants
*Mughal technology shipments:
-Experience Trickle (Din-i-illahi)
-Professional Gunners (as the Arsenal upgrade)
-2 Castle Rickshaws
Wonders:
-Ali Qapu Palace (sends Export and Tofangchi)
-Shah Mosque (sends Experience and Imans)
-Khorshid Palace (improves Hand Cavalry Melee and Siege damage)
-Golestan Palace (allows for Jaegers and Fusiliers at the Monastery and gives a discount to Mercenaries)
-Arg of Karm Khan (sends Qurchi Riders and Cavalry Cuirass upgrade)
Yes, Austrians are covered by the Germans. As the Germans are based on the HRE. Poles are to some part covered by the Germans in the sense of Polish hussars and technically sort of Uhlans, but not in the sense of actually polish people.
There is a difference between anachromism for gameplay reasons and just for the history. All civs have only 1 ruler thus you are automatically having an anachromism. However the US isnt s gameplay mechanic, its an entire civ, added, which weighs way harder because the entirety of the civ, not just for gameplay mechanics is anachormism
But again we wouldnt have to have these discussions if the devs just added the option to ban dlc civ in your lobby that the previous dlc also had. The people who dont want to play against US is happy and the people who do want to are happy.
