Hello, my name is Steven. My friends and I just played our first game of AOE 2: Definitive Edition. It looks really nice, is a little choppy though. One issue that really needs to get fixed that seemed to plague us every time we played the old version is connectivity. Without fail in the HD remake (and before) one of us would get disconnected and would not be able to reload the saved file. But at least it made a saved file. The new one as soon as you disconnect then that’s it, you resign and the game is over for you. I understand that disconnects do happen and it does seem better this time around, although could still be improved. But there needs to be either some sort of auto-save feature or a feature that allows a player to reconnect without having to resign in the process. This is a major issue in my opinion and needs immediate addressing, especially when we play upwards of 4 hours and haven’t saved in awhile. There should be an autosave feature that saves every 5 or 10 minutes, as well as a reconnect option.
Otherwise we play for 4 hours and someone randomly disconnects and it ruins the game. If there is already a fix or an option for this please let me know (I’ve looked) and if there isn’t it has to be added, especially releasing this game in this day and age when that is the standard.

I agree, the game definitely needs autosave and also reconnect feature. Currently if someone disconnects from the game, he instantly resigns and cannot rejoin anymore 
we need reconnect with this ranked system. just dropped a 2v2 game and cant join back…
My internet connection is not the most stable and I tend to drop out once or twice per game with my friend. This was totally fine in HD or on voobly since the game could easily be restored. In DE Multiplayer is completely pointless for me now, so I hope that autosave or reconnecting will get added soon or the 15 € will have been for basically nothing…
Funny thing is, in the vanilla Age of Empires 2 (or at least in the 1.0C version that I played hundreds of hours) there was an option, if you launch the game with the “-autompsave” the game was automatically saved each 5 minutes or so. In HD however that was removed.
i have an ok internet connection. i do a lot on the internet, and aoe 2 de is the only thing that constantly disconnects. about 70% of my multiplayer games are disconnects or crashes. the game freezes, then it goes at super speed, then it freezes again, and after a couple of minutes it says i’ve been disconnected
Acctually the game is broken. Simply don’t buy it
