DLC Lord of the West - 2 New Civs

That Coustillier looks so cool!

Looks more like a Knight than the actual Knight unit.

I’m hyped! Civs look super fun!

Then we should be getting a scenario covering Antioch’s most sacred relic.

They cannot introduce “God’s Recreational McNuke” in the game, otherwise the whining about “Sicilians OP” would never cease!

It would be so cool if we could get with new expansion unit like Holy Hand Grenade Thrower in scenario editor or as a cheat code unit.

What about the team bonuses of Burgundians and Sicilians?

The Team Bonuses are unknown for now

But based on the shared one time use strong push identity of the civs and the buildings and units they get, maybe…

Sicilians: allies can build one donjon for free starting in castle age.

Burgundians: both the player and their allies get a free Flemmish Militia under their Town Center upon reaching Castle Age, plus one for every TC created after that point.

(No, I don’t think this is actually true.)

I see this DLC is $9.99 to pre-purchase on Steam. If you wait until release date to buy, will it still be $9.99, or does the price go up?

Price tags rarely ever go up for any Steam game, and usually developers always give warning before price increase.

As for the chances of the LotW DLC increasing in price, I would say it is impossible, due to the fact that no price increase has ever happened for any Age of Empires Game.

Well, I mean the tag says “Pre-Purchase for $9.99,” and oftentimes that means it’s a special price that is only available if you pre-order; and then once it launches, it’ll actually be, say, $14.99 or $19.99. Maybe Steam never does that? But I’ve seen that type of marketing a lot in a wide variety of industries, including gaming. So was just making sure. If I wait, will I be missing out on the low price…? Sounds like you’re sure it is ‘no’ – it will not go up at launch in late January…

AoEX games on steams have never risen up. The opposite is more likely: I pre-purchased 2 and 3 and their price tended to decrease in the first upcoming sales… which made me upset…

I’m sure $5 more was worth it rather than waiting months for a sale. Took at least 6 months for AoE2:DE to have a sale after it was released.

I was upset by their policy rather by price change. Putting a discount on a new game… but it is their game and their decisions…

They waited ample time to discount AoE2:DE - most people pre-ordered or bought it in the first few months of release.

AoE3:DE is on sale much earlier because it is simply much less popular than AoE2:DE
Both ways they made profits.

I do not know how much profit they made with AoE3 De, since we are getting a new expo for this one, and not for 3.

It is simply a matter of this game being better, more marketable, and having much greater player (potential paying customer for further content) retention.

Yes, but AoE2DE is on the market for a year and few months and without any expansions if I do not count all the DLCs for AoE2HD.

AoE3DE is on the market for three months and got Incas and Swedes. So I perfectly understand there are no DLCs for this game. However, you are right, I do not believe there would be many DLCs for 3 because of its lower popularity. What is more, I do not wish it! As I wrote elsewhere 5 more civs at max would be apropriate but definitely no more!

AoE2 DE got the Lithuanians, Bulgarians, Tatars and Cumans on release, so it got double the amount of new civs Aoe3 DE got.

HD never had the Last Khans civs, and no one ever made an AoE3 HD to sell expansions on, as a proof of concept either.

Heck, AoE2 DE had 3 more campaigns, while AoE3 DE could not even introduce 1.

I could easily add 10 more civs to AoE3 in 2 expansions:
-Siam
-Morocco
-Italy
-Poland
-Persia
-Ethiopia
-Somalia
-Zulu
-Maori
-Hausa

At least a 30 Years War expansion and an Africa expansions are a necessity for that game.
