The Latins could also be added, representing the Latin Empire.
The Angevins could also be added, representing the Angevin Empire.
I think Siege because the Serbs conquered a lot of cities and fortresses from the Byzantines when they formed the Serbian Empire.
Theme of eastern european civis is having a cavalry uu konnik catapract boyar etc.if any more are added they should get cavalry uus as well.
For some reason cavalry was very popular in Eastern Europeâs history. My guess is influence from the Mongols but I donât really know why. The Romanians/Vlachs would be interesting because they could be another âextra buffed Paladinâ civ while the Serbs from what srbnems said could be a Cavalry civ as well.
Yes, I see the Gusar as a unique upgrade for light cavalry instead of the hussar, just like you have the Magyar hussarâŠ
Weâll probably see them in AoE 4 as Byzantine and English variants respectively⊠I thought they were going to put the Angevins or the Tudors as the English variant, but I guess the Lancasters could work xdâŠ
Of course, itâs also a semi-mountainous area, so we can see something similar to the Armenians fighting the Byzantines in the Thoros campaignâŠ
Itâs because Eastern Europe was all plains with mountain ranges in betweenâŠthatâs why cavalry was very popular in Hungary, Wallachia, Poland, Lithuania and Rus/RussiaâŠplus the Huns in the 5th century, the Magyars in the 10th century and the Rus and Mongols in the 13th century were skilled horsemen to travel great distances from the Asian steppes to the Carpathians and the BalkansâŠ
I was thinking that the near releasing Chinese DLC will make possible a Balkans DLC next year
You mean the winged hussar. Personally I dont like civis having similar things for historical accuracy.
Hopefully not, since there are regions more important and less represented than Balkans.
That would be great!
They could even combine it with something like American & African nations to make a âWorldWideâ DLC. If they still go for the same 5 new civs formula.
True. I envisioned the Albanians, Croatians, Serbians, and Vlachs as new civs, with campaigns for three, Matthias Corvinus and Mehmed campaigns, and a heavily reworked Dracula campaign for the Vlachs. This is only realistic now and not a year ago. I envisioned a new architecture set, but if thatâs not possible, then they can get the Mediterranean set with the Byzantine Monastery (I know, I know).
While I too would love a DLC with Albanians, Croatians, Serbians, and Vlachs as new civs + Draculaâs rework (maybe make it co-op too). I think this China DLC maybe be a 1 time thing, the changes here are huge. Itâs likely next year we will get a more chill DLC with 2-3 civs which hopefully will be Vlachs, Serbs and if a 3rd one Croats but without new regional units and such. Not that Iâd like to, I just donât think the new DLCs after this Chinese one are going to be as big.
I agree. I do think the Chinese/5 civs DLC is a delayed 25th anniversary release, and that in the future we will see hopefully 2 releases a year: 1 Chronicles DLC and 1 standard 2 civs DLC.
Well, you do what you can xdâŠ
Yeah, you guys are probably right. The China DLC is likely a special event DLC, not the next DLC standard.
I can imagine they could split the Turks (sorta) into Ottomans and Seljuks in a Balkan-themed dlc.
Ottomans are still a gunpowder civ but could use a rework regarding their trash units and/or gold consumption.
Seljuks could get pastures like the recent Chinese civ.
The other civs that could be included would be Serbians and Venetians. Maybe Albanians too.
Serbians appear to be an Infantry + Cavalry civ. The Balkans appear to be a cavalry-centric area and can imagine Serbs getting access to the Steppe Lancer with a special upgrade, âSerbian Lancerâ, or a different unit that allows them to fight other cavalry civs with cost effective means.
A unique bonus could be that they produce a little of the other mineral when mining: 1 gold per 10 stone, 1 stone per 10 gold. Helps resources last longer.
Maybe have access to the Fortified Church and Mule Cart.
Venetians are a sea focused civ. Donât know what could be given to them beyond mercenaries and special ship.
Albanians have and give access to teammates to the Stradiot unit akin to the Italiansâ Condottiero.
EDIT: Serbian Winged Hussar? Serbian Cataphract?
