it’s the kind of thing that put me off aoe4 and it’s another barrier of entry to an already complicated game. I would like to see this as a toggle-able option though
A doomsayer unit that calls down a meteor from the sky! Y’know, Mayan Calendars and the world ending and stuff.
Lol, have you met the Samurai? (Yes, I’m a little salty over how situational that unit still is after all these years ).
Maybe it’s just a reflection on how (non-pike/eagle) infantry in general are non-meta, but it’s kind of crazy that a unit like Urumi, which slaughters all other infantry and even does quite well against cavalry is considered “extremely situational.” Not that I entirely disagree with you either, but it seems like if you apply a lot of the logic people are using to say the Dravidians are bad to legacy civs (esp. Japanese, Goths), you might come to a similar conclusion about the relative power levels of those civs as well.
Then why they didn’t put the Indians in The Conquerors?..
Of course, if you buy a definitive version it is supposed to be an improved version of the original, if you do not happen to the GTA trilogy …
Yes, please…and by the way a greater variety of fauna and flora and regional skins…
I think they wanted to do an Indian expansion after the Conquerors. Don’t remember what was the reason for it not happening, maybe it was Ensemble Studios going poof or idk. It did get added in The Forgotten, tho.
I remember Sandy Peterson talking about an African dlc, not an Indian one.
Yes, Sandy confirmed they wanted an African expansion after but could not make into it because of AOE3. As for Indians, they were just a possibility of a new architecture set along with Americans during the development of The Conquerors.
They originally wanted a South Asian DLC actually. Ensemble Studios Designer Journal: Not Necessarily the Conquerors
And by proxy, they can do it…in addition to the naginatas you can get off with hussars…
Yes, also if it wants to be a historical game, at least it would have to start showing the differences between civilizations…
It would not be very different from the Franks…
Ah I just played a game against the Urumi and they wiped out everything I threw at them. They are looking like the strongest infantry unit in the game.
They could remove the organ gun from portugal, it was never a spical unit in the portuguese army.
But hey lets keep just things wrong…
Nice, I’ve never read this before. Thanks!
The thing I find most interesting/weirdest here is that the Greeks were late additions to AoE1. I thought they’d have been one of the first, since the academy, siege weapons, and Infantry graphics all seem Greek.
They would not be very different from being a reskins of the hand cannoners…
They were very busy with SWGB and AoM betwwen 2000 and 2003…
SWGB was not made by ES, they just loaned someone to LA who did make it to show them how stuff worked.
