Elephant archers and Siege elephants for Southeast Asians

Alternatively let the Archery Range and Stable use the second page like the Dock currently does. imo devs getting rid of the Dock’s 2nd page is a mistake.

Regarding the actual topic at hand:

  • Give Khmer and Burmese both EA and SE.
  • Give Malay EA but not AE.
  • Don’t give Vietnamese either, you can leave them with HCA and Rams.

Can give more variations to future SEA civs like Chams, Mon and Siamese.

Big no. Replacing rams by siege elephants kills infantry plays because they cannot be garrisoned. Malay/Vietnamese/Burmese have beautiful infantry, Khmer can do stuff too although it’s not usually their best play. I don’t want them to be nullified.

Armoured Elephant shouldn’t go to anyone outside of India. Because only India did this style of warfare.

Elephant Archers are a different kettle of fish.

How about Elephant Archers are a different pen of pachyderms?

pretty sure anyone who used elephants would use them in meele combat.

Thai literally used elephants to break through walls

That’s not what Armoured Elephants are. Note how any melee unit does tons of damage to them.

Armoured Elephants represent South Asian siege tactics, where they never invented Battering Rams, and used elephants with specialist equipment instead. You can see this on doors of surviving Indian castles that have anti-elephant spikes built to try and repel them.

Southeast Asia didn’t do this as far as we know.

Only share EAs with SEA civs without sharing Armoured Elephants. If Armoured Elephants were also shared with SEA civs, then South Asian civilizations would lose every their unique regional unit.

Then the potential Siamese civ could have a bonus or a UT to boost their Battle Elephants against defensive buildings, meybe.

how would people batter down walls or gates before elephants were trained for comabat?

I’m not sure what you’re suggesting. That the South Asian civs should lose the Armoured Elephant…?

They can use either units, rams are universal.

Ok, I don’t think I was quite clear enough.

There is no archeological, written or otherwise evidence that South Asian civilisations used battering rams. They used elephants instead and never needed to invent them.

Using something heavy to batter down a gate is not rocket science,Are you suggesting people in asia were so primitive that they did not know how to do this simple task?

Exactly.

This guy looks pretty strong, especially when you attach an iron ball to the trunk.

Are you desperately trying to falsely accuse me of racism because you’re losing an argument?

India has had domestic elephants since the middle of the Bronze Age. They wouldn’t have needed rams.

Necessity is the mother of invention. If you don’t need something, then it doesn’t get invented. That’s why calling other cultures primitive for not having the same tech is pointless.

Which is easier picking up a heavy log and bashing a wall or capturing and training big wild animal?

You not having common sense is not my problem.how will you break inner walls and gates where Elephants cannot reach?

Im not the one saying south asians did not have rams.

When you ALREADY HAVE THE ANIMAL, you do not need the log.

This is what I am trying to tell you.

Clearly not a problem South Asian civilisations suffered from. Because AGAIN, there is no evidence of battering ram use, so clearly what they were doing didn’t need them.

This is so wrong… on so many levels.
Just remind you, imagine now the picture of running an army of elephants into a stone wall.

Please guys and girls. Nobody of us knows what exacly was then. But it’s pretty sure for me running eles into stone walls would be considered animal abuse even THEN. Maybe they didn’t used rams, but they surely had other ways than running elephants into stone defences, that makes no sense.

Yes you are absolutely righ,if there is no detailed records of something those people never used it.

Is there any evidence or records of such a thing being used in real life?

Nobody was running elephants into stone walls.

They they used armoured elephants to batter gates down. If you read my earlier posts, you would have seen those words.

Are we really doing this again? Questioning another non-European unit’s entire existence? Why don’t we just remove camels, elephants, fire lancers, eagle warriors…any regional unit…just in case.

But just in case:
