I don’t know anymore than whats written in the notes
Looks like they have decided to make Tatars and Indians important allies. Elephants Archers benefitting from Cavalry Archer LoS, Flaming camel benefitting from extra building attack.
They probably want to design Timurid + Rajputs = Mughals… Though rest of India(South and East) is still not represented in this game, but it is still okay as this mix is representing north west region of India a little bit better. Makes a bit more sense to think of Indians in game as Rajputana and not India. They should rename the Civilization to Rajputana and change the Wonder to some Rajasthani building and remove that fishing bonus.
This has happened before:. A list of changes was leaked and in the official patch there were more changes.
I remember this happened in the khmer farming bonus patch (that was not leaked)
This synergy looks so weird. Ele archers are slow so they aren’t made for raiding nor scouting. And Flaming camels are still going to be bad vs buildings. A better synergy for instance is Indian + Malian, as the faster university allow Indian to get their Shatagni HC faster, while Malian camel can stack up Farimba and the ant-building bonus. And the +2 line of sight of Tatars sounds much more effective on War wagons and Conqs…
My common sense says that Elephant Archers should have high line of sight considering their height and Flaming Camels should be good against buildings. Both the things are getting satisfied when the two civs are allying. So together they make it more fun.
I am not trying to compare it with other alliances from strength perspective.
Yeah literally +5 bonus against things that have thousands of HP, you’re thinking too much
Then tell me what’s the purpose of Flaming Camels then? They are pretty useless.
Killing heavy cavalry
blowing up elephants and other cavalry. It was also announced on April Fool’s after a lot of memeing about how tatars should get them, so its not like you should take it seriously about how good it is
Anyway they have never been used as a way of destroying buildings historically. So why would you want to make them anti-buildings? They were a way to counter elephants, and them also being anti-camel and anti-cav makes sense because I don’t see any animal remaining calm at the sight of flaming colleagues, but buildings? You’d be better of asking your men to throw torches everywhere/using siege weapons and that’s what Tamerlane did.
Were there flaming camels in history?
Capture of Delhi (1398)
Delhi after sack of Timur Lang, 1398
The battle took place on 17 December 1398. Sultan Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud Shah Tughluq and the army of Mallu Iqbal[60] had war elephants armored with chain mail and poison on their tusks.[7]:267 As his Tatar forces were afraid of the elephants, Timur ordered his men to dig a trench in front of their positions. Timur then loaded his camels with as much wood and hay as they could carry. When the war elephants charged, Timur set the hay on fire and prodded the camels with iron sticks, causing them to charge at the elephants howling in pain: Timur had understood that elephants were easily panicked. Faced with the strange spectacle of camels flying straight at them with flames leaping from their backs, the elephants turned around and stampeded back toward their own lines. Timur capitalized on the subsequent disruption in the forces of Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud Shah Tughluq, securing an easy victory. Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud Shah Tughluq fled with remnants of his forces. Delhi was sacked and left in ruins
And nobody talks about Indian War Elephants being historically used by Indians, or even think about giving Battle elephant access to them…
Their UU is an elephant already. Besides that, there are people (not me tho) who want battle eles for Indian (including the dude you’re replying to)
According Hera’s video about Tier list of unique units, I think the same, elephant archer is the worst unique unit, is true that have a high HP, but have many counters and the range and attack or even mobility is very bad, any suggestion?
Ekhem…
But Indians are a great civ, that does not really need buffs. EAs are not holding Indians back, they are keeping them balanced.
Indians maybe is tier B, Best camels and CA but suffers against Eagles, I think that might reduce HP points, and increase speed, or at least bonus against eagle warriors, seriously even the very low players do this unit is very bad.
Indians have shatagini HC, and Champions, to deal with Eagles. Their camel-Knights just flatout beat Persians and Franks at the Cavalry game, for a cheaper price.
Not to mentions that their Vills are cheaper, and become even cheaper with Age Ups, coupled with sultans, for a huge Eco boom.
Yea Eco bonus is very good, but I want to see elephant archers at least a situational games, the unit is very beautiful and is a waste
