Game Version:
- Build: (101.101.35584.0 4714640) (and many versions before that at least up to december last year)
- Platform: Steam
- Operating System: Windows 10
- Gamertag: GL252
Issue:
Adding elevation to maps in the editor generates a ton of lag and it presumably scales with a combination of some of the below factors:
- number of terrain types
- objects/units on the map
- map size
- brush size
- amount of triggers
It becomes noticeable with Normal/Large maps and becomes annoying with Giant and Ludicrous size maps.
I’ve had times where I needed to wait 20 seconds for a 1x1 one click brush edit, which made the scenario I was working on at the time impossible to complete and severely hampers my motivation to create large scenarios. Perhaps there is some overlap between this elevation editing lag and pathing/unit action issues, which further warrants a look.
Reproduction Steps:
Here’s how to reproduce the problem:
- Create scenario
- Generate random map of Giant / Ludicrous size
- Pick any elevation of any brush size
- Add elevation anywhere
or, more realistically:
- Load a big scenario (of Giant / Ludicrous size)
- Pick any brush and elevation size
- Add elevation
