If the next Chronicles DLC ist actually the story of Alexander then we will likely see a bunch more Persian heroes.
Ah there was no such thing as “standard Persian army”, Persian armies were raised from all over the empire. There were Greeks, Arabs, Assyrians, Illamites, Babylonians, Indians, Anatolians, Africans, Egyptians and countless others. Even the so called Persian War Elephant which is iconic in AOE2 is actually from India as there are no elephants native to Persia. So if anything, its very fitting for the Persian armies to look like they are from various regions and cultures. Achaemenid Persia was basically the ancient world’s example of a metropolitan melting pot of cultures.
Honestly too much troll response. What did I ask for? Persian unit for Persian Civ.
Doesn’t feel like this thread needs to continue any further. You guys win.
Like others have said the Achaemenid empire was one of/if not the largest empire at the time, drawing troops from multiple continents. There were no official uniforms back then and soldiers supplied their own equipment. The only units in ancient armies that wore uniforms were the king’s personal guard, Achaemenids have the Immortals.
The Achaemenid army was made of local levies of the empire, sometimes having more non-Persian soldiers than troops born in Iran.
Besides the plume - not something exclusive to the Greeks - it is a fairly generic helmet
Not everyone that disagrees with you is a troll
We need Nubian archers, Indian longbowmen and Cardaces and Bactrian cataphracts.
There’s a Good chance many of those units will show up for an Alexander the Great campaign. Here’s hoping.
