Envoys not soldiers.
Also Lydians were part of the Persian Empire so they not unlikely they kept their style of helmet when they fought for the Persians.
In the end even Greeks were part of the Persian Empire so kinda everything fits the Persians anyway.
Going by your reasoning let’s remove Conquistadors from the Spanish and instead give them Tlaxcalan warrior and Totonac missionary. Because they were part of their empire in the periphery
But the War Chariot is not a unique unit. It’s a regional unit that just happens to only be available to the Persians for now.
I expect the unit to be trainable by other future Chronicles civs so the Lydian helmet makes sense.
It is only available to one civ and unique unit armour class. Do you even play the game?
How confident are you that more chronicles civ are coming that require a Greek Chariot? Chariot is used in Plains of Fertile Crescent not Hills of Greece and Anatolia.
That’s literally what I just said.
Chronicles only has 3 civs for now so not every unit that is exclusive to one civ is automatically a unique unit.
Imperial Cavalry is also currently exclusive to them and so is Heavy Cavalry Archer.
Gastraphetoros are exclusive to the Athenians and also not a unique unit.
I know War Chariots have the unique unit armour class but so does the Hoplite which is available to 2 civs already.
Personally I don’t even want to see more Chronicles civs. It’s too jarring and doesn’t fit in AoE2 experience - neither gameplay wise nor timeline wise. They are ruining the game by such mod like DLCs. Make a different game if you want these.
Considering how decentralised was the Persian army with each satrapy bringing its own troops, and that Anatolia retained more of a chariot tradition than other areas (Pontus still used some against Caesar, but at this point their effectiveness was pathetic, it’s the campaign in which he coined veni vidi vici), it doesn’t seem absurd
The bulb at the front of the helmet under the crest looks more phrygian, like a phrygian cap.
Because I own the DLC and I like AoE2. Refund my money and I won’t complain.
Should have been a different game. I hope there is no more chronicles DLC in future. There is a lot to do in the base game itself. It’s only half of the inconsistency fixed in this update.
Wow didn’t even notice there is a bulb below the crest. Visible on the icon but model is different.
Atleast the Darius hero model needs to change to non-Elite Chariot if the Elite model is not going to change.
Like it has been said, it is a different gamemode, by default doesn’t interact with the main game at all, and done by a different team, so it won’t hurt the game development. It also can be useful to devs as a workshop of what experiments could work in the main game without disrupting the meta until it is tested.
The problem with the generic unit looks (european looking asians) have been with since the beginning, but the fact that there’s only 3 civs at the begining instead of 13 and the different standard we have now makes it more obvious.
When they add the Macedonian succesor states, it will be more fitting. They might have designed them with Seleucids and Ptolemaics in mind
You’re right, I mixed them up with Lydians that later settled in the same place.
The team is made up of modders they hired. They do not have the knowledge nor capacity to make an entirely new game.
They should make Chronicles a standalone purchase though, same with RoR so you can play it without having to buy the main game.
They are the people that made the Rome at War mod and they were hired to make the mod into official DLC. They would likely not want to suddenly be forced to make none Chronicles content.
If they were forced to stop making antiquity content they would likely just quit and go back to modding.
But in the end we don’t all want the same so they can’t make all of us happy.
He just appears in one mission for a few minutes so I guess they decided to rather invest their time into making other heroes that are actually relevant to the story.
Archaemanids ingame rn mostly based on the region of Turkey and to some extent Iran. Also Archaemanids did have Greeks in their military ranks when they had influence around modern day Turkey-Greece. Campaigns virtually confirms it.
