Elo matching in ranked is off by 169?

I am routinely getting matched with players 160+ higher ELO. Is there something wrong with ranked matchmaking or is this now normal? I never win and the opponent always completely annihilates me and I never feel like I had any chance. I dont think my ELO drops much because it was a mismatch from the start. I check the ELO of my opponent and sure enough it is way higher. The match making used to be good, used to be players of similar ELO. What happened? I would rather just stay in que than be matched against an opponent I have no chance of winning against. It goes without saying the opponent will be Norse 90% of the time, or 10% China (dont remember ever having beaten China, ever at least Norse can be beaten), following by insulting me when they win, doing cheat strategies like moving servant so I cant build a dock which isn’t too fun either. Are there any normal people who want to play a fair game?

Honestly, it happens quite rarely. In general, for example, I’m at 1200 elo and I often come across elo 1100 or 1300 in the worst cases. Today I came up against an elo of 1500, which was really the first time I’d come up against such a big difference. Of course, I got knocked down, but it didn’t bother me any more than that, as long as it was anecdotal.

The ELO matching still is really bad. I got matched with Kvotth, he is 2100 ELO and my Elo is 860. Also I am very often matching with people 1030 or more, and of course I always lose those games. The ELO itself is very accurate because if it is 100 ELO higher than me I always lose and if it is 100 Elo lower than me I always win. What I would like is to match ONLY with people the same ELO as me, say 80+ or -, so that I have a 50/50 chance of winning. A lot of games lately I feel like I have no chance at all, and then afterwards I look at the ELO and it is much higher than mine. People like to play a game where they feel like they have a chance of winning. If it is too hard or too easy, they lose interest. I can’t ‘get good’ because I move the mouse slow, there is nothing I can do about it, that is why my ELO has stayed the same over the course of 530 hours of playtime. And also because I prefer picking the weakest civs vs whatever the latest ‘op meta’ is. I don’t care about it, except I want accurate matches. I would rather wait longer versus play games I have no chance of winning.
