English need changes.

I was just describing some effects that can happen. For example, I said “the win rate will not show the civ to be OP any more, the OP nature will instead mean that their ELO is higher than their true ELO, but there’s no way to know everyone’s true ELO to analyse this”, meaning that you simply cannot use this information to know whether a civ is OP or not. I also said the pick rate is “arguably” more important than the win rate, but inserting that word is acknowledging there are other arguments, e.g. people may pick a civ for reasons other than believing it will maximise their probability of winning.

One of the best ways I can think of to obtain data on civ balance would be to allow people to queue for random civ matchups, where both players are given a random civ. IF that caused people to become equally good at using every civ, the win rate when looking at only those games should then reflect the strength of each civ.

True that.

As there have been lots of complaints about english being OP from different users in this thread I think it is quite save to say that english as of now is most likely not OP. Is it a strong civ? Maybe but judging from the current results of the third round of the Golden League it more likely is the other way around.

I think that pro players civs winrate says the most, they are all almost pair to pair, know almost the same things, so with almost the same capacities is easier to determine which civ is OP or which is not. Meanwhile casual players civs winrate means less because there are some that doesn’t know a lot about the game and there are others that are really know a lot but they still paired by the game.

Something else. Maybe the reason why people see the English as a OP civ is because there are some spots where the English are very strong, but there others that are very weak, and that’s where we complain, meanwhile civs like French have almost no weak point, they are strong in everything, that’s what all civilizations should be.

The actual Network of Castles, 50% attack speed with Network of Citadels makes insanely strong the English, but rest of the English seems weak except Mills’ influence and Arrow Volley too. That’s why whenever I say to give Culverines, a way to give infinite wood income like the French to the English, etc, I also say to reduce or balance somethings. Like my new Network of Castles idea.
