English - Network of Citadels - ALL Infantry/Cavalry (except Knight) get 0% extra attack speed from Network of Citadels Upgrade

For English, the “Network of Citadels” upgrade should give +30% attack speed. This improves on “Network of Castles”, which gives +20% attack speed.

From Patch 12.1.2454

  • Network of Citadels technology effect reduced from 20% → 10% more attack speed with Network of Castles

However, ALL Infantry/Cavalry (except Knight) get 0% more attack speed after getting “Network of Citadels”.

Note: All attack speed times below are by measuring with a millisecond stopwatch and ignores the tooltip. The attack speed tooltip is not always accurate because the Engine works in 0.125 second increments and the tooltip is an estimate based on multiple internal values. Most melee units are off by 0.125 seconds from the tooltip.

Base Infantry/Cavalry Attack Speeds:

  • Spearman: 1.875
  • Man-at-Arms: 1.5
  • Longbow: 1.625
  • Crossbowman: 2.125
  • Handcannoneer: 2.125
  • Horseman: 1.875
  • Knight: 1.625

“Network of Castles” (+20%) Infantry/Cavalry Attack Speeds:

  • Spearman: 1.875 → 1.625 [+15.38%]
  • Man-at-Arms: 1.5 → 1.25 [+20%]
  • Longbow: 1.625 → 1.375 [+18.18%]
  • Crossbowman: 2.125 → 1.75 [+21.24%]
  • Handcannoneer: 2.125 → 1.75 [+21.24%]
  • Horseman: 1.875 → 1.5 [+25%]
  • Knight: 1.625 → 1.375 [+18.18%]

“Network of Citadels” (+30%) Infantry/Cavalry Attack Speeds:

  • Spearman: 1.875 → 1.625 [+15.38%] <<< (0% bonus)
  • Man-at-Arms: 1.5 → 1.25 [+20%] <<< (0% bonus)
  • Longbow: 1.625 → 1.375 [+18.18%] <<< (0% bonus)
  • Crossbowman: 2.125 → 1.75 [+21.24%] <<< (0% bonus)
  • Handcannoneer: 2.125 → 1.75 [+21.24%] <<< (0% bonus)
  • Horseman: 1.875 → 1.5 [+25%] <<< (0% bonus)
  • Knight: 1.625 → 1.25 [+30%] <<< (11.82% bonus)

So yeah, not really a worthwhile upgrade, I would say.

For Siege, they have more wiggle room since they have longer reload times, so they do get some bonus attack speed.

However, since the fundamental gameplay is using Infantry/Cavalry, the experience and fun of playing with this upgrade isn’t really compelling with it almost literally doing nothing for them.

I would probably recommend reverting this change.

Or maybe, make the Network affect different types of units differently (Melee Infantry, Ranged Infantry, Cavalry, Siege).

Wow really? They can’t get anything right lol. Not even in a small patch that just tweaks some numbers.

These numbers doesnt seem right:

Yet it seems that indeed the network of citadels does not affect all units as it should.
