English Trebuchet Shattering Projectiles

Does this technology need to be buffed? It’s very expensive , and ever since the nerf of trebuchet’s damage against units, it’s been completely useless. It actually only modifies the ratio of AOE damage by distance. The area of the damage itself is still 1.5 metres (1 tile = 4m).
How about a rework on this expensive technology. Like increasing the damage area or gaining a skill of real shattering projectiles (like mangonel)

I don’t think it was ever meant to be good, this is more of a cheese technology. On the few applications I have seen this used in the past, it involved team games with lots of walls and later a wonder. Nothing was fun about trying to deal with that.

It was quite intimidating before the damage nerf. I saw pro player streaming the solo rank, and the shattering projectiles were devastating to his ranged troops, even to his siege weapons. And it was one of most important technologies for late English game.
It was quite a long time ago, before the siege rework. The trebuchet had 100 damage against units, so it was a useful technology back then

It should be buffed, perhaps it was too strong before but no tech should be useless as it is now.

There was no change to itself, probably the reason it has been forgotten. The siege rework made this tech useless. If it’s a castle age tech and very cheap, current state is not much a problem. But it’s an empire age tech, and costs 300 wood and 700 gold which equals to many game changing techs.

Sure the changes to the base damage of the treb is what makes it useless now, they should either buff the tech or drastically reduce its cost.
