Issue: RelicCardinal.exe hangs after about 1 minute, locking the game completely, requiring a force close. Occurs in menus and in-game.

Root cause identified in logs:

TlsConnection::Shutdown: SSL shut down failed; errno=10038
WebSocketConnection::OnConnectionClose; statusCode=1006

Followed by immediate reconnect attempt to dr-activerelease1-api.worldsedgelink.com

^ This portion was determine by claude ai, I’m not 100% positive on the validity of this being the culprit. I can provide my warnings log if needed.

Key findings:

  • Issue is isolated to my Windows user profile, fresh Windows user account works perfectly online

  • Steam offline mode works longer, sometimes multiple minutes, confirming RelicCardinal’s online connection is the issue

  • AoE2 and Forza Horizon 4 work fine online, issue is AoE4/RelicCardinal specific

  • Clean reinstall of AoE4 including all local profile data did not help

  • All Xbox Live credentials cleared from Windows Credential Manager, no improvement

  • All Xbox Live components installed and running normally

  • No firewall, proxy, VPN, or network issues found

  • Windows SFC came up with no integrity violations

  • Verified port 443 connects successfully to worldsedgelink.com

System: Windows 11 25H2, Steam, AMD Ryzen 9800x3d, 32GB 6000MHz, RTX 4090

I have run out of ways I can think of to fix this on my end, hopefully I can get a solution here. I’ve done all the basics and even did a full reinstall of the game and deeper troubleshooting. The fact that it works perfectly on a fresh Windows user account on the same machine confirms this is something specific to my user profile. Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
