I’m getting the exact same error. I have tried reinstalling the game, checking my memory using MemTest86 (which produced no errors), running sfc /scannow, increased my virtual memory to 20GB, disabling my antivirus, updating my video card drivers to the latest, applying the latest Windows updates, and all oher available fixes for this message but nothing has worked.

After doing some digging in the forums, I looked in my Program Files (x86) folder and found this folder AOE2URLHELPER that had the file also called AOE2URLHELPER. When I checked the Properties of that file, the creation date was around the same time I started getting the Exception type logs. It was the only file in that folder so I decided to delete the folder to see what would happened. Since deleting that folder, the Exception type error hasn’t come back. I have been playing for several hours over the last 2 weeks since I deleted that file and the game hasn’t crashed since. Definitely worth a try if anyone is still having this issue.

i am also experiecing the memory acces error crash, but i am a but hesistant to delte that folder. If a dev could clarify what that exe is used for, then it would make me feel better deleting it.

Hello, i am still facing this issue I track the issue was causds by microsoft update kb4566782, i uninstalled and works perfectly, the problem is that later microsoft installed after a while and you need to uninstall it again, do you know how to workarround this with the update just to avoid the process of uninstalled. I will post here if I found it.
Regards.

How did you determine that it is caused by this specific windows update?

I found some issues with some libraries on windows event and aoe logs, then i check when they start to occour and then i match them with the last windows update, then i test it unistalling the update and it works ok without it, but i reported to windows and thing the fix it because after a month avoiding that update it works ok after install it again.

Ok Anyone who is having the sudden crash of error 0xc0000005 should try the following.

Restart your PC

Boot into BIOS

Find bifurcation setting which should be under pci express

Change it from Auto to 8x8

At least this should fix for Gigabyte motherboards
this should fix it

Cross-posting because I spent forever figuring this out and this worked for me and my friend.

Okay I had the same problem for the longest time and I just found a solution! I’m using an intel integrated graphic driver on my laptop. (Intel 12th gen) When I start playing the game, it will crash after a couple minutes.

I had display adapter drivers 31.x.xxx.xxxx and I installed an earlier version and it works perfectly now. You need to chose a version that is 30.x.xxx.xxxx or older. For some reason the newer drivers don’t work with the game.
