Farming & Trading & Ressource avaliability

I love the idea of land trade just to make traiding viable on all maps. But keep the classic trading system, no AoE2 style ‘magic instant markeds’ and ‘unlimited gold’ carts.

Yes. Land trading would be great.
And instead of using docks: You can finally use the Trade Workshop as a building for trade units to go around. (This unit is more expensive and moves slower than a trade ship ofcourse.) And you keep the trading system (i.e. it cost resources for gold) intact.

It would be really nice to make trading possible for all map types. Especially in multiplayer maps.

I also hope they keep each tree at a value of 50 wood. Major deforestation’s that change the map drastically as the game go on is a big part of the charm in aoe1 - it’s like an ant simulator.

I agree. In my mod, I included a feature that lets every melee unit with a sword or axe “attack” trees.
Armies could now cut their way through a forest to the enemy and sneak into their base.

@sonictimm We would start making AoE far much complex than it is. In other words a completely new game

I’d like to see that only with the axeman. :stuck_out_tongue: :dizzy:

No I agree with @Ravnico. Besides, you could chop away your enemy’s forest in the tool age. Not fair!

You can’t chop trees with a battle axe, or with any kind of weapon meant for war. Those are designed to work against humans and hitting something much harder like wood would only cause them to break.

Does that mean axeman lose their axe when they attack a centurion xD ?

Axes can’t indeed cut metal armor. Historically an axeman would probably use the blunt side of the axe against heavily armored opponents, using is more like a mace rather than an axe.

As much as I like the idea of a whole new AOE1 I got used to the remaster-idea and as stated earlier not much should be changed. Only graphics, balance tweaks and ergonomics really. The game was more or less complete with enough civs and units.
