Is there space left in villager’s build menu to accommodate a new building?
So you can keep the interaction triangle by having a fire ship counter, but having a reusable one as opposed to one that dies upon one single use.
I’m pretty confident that’s the only reason they added any universally accessible ships
You reminded me. They never reserved space for a “back to work” button, even for Gurjara docks.
They made a Castle for every civ this year so making a Shipyard for every architecture set doesn’t seem to be that much work.
I think the main reason is probably backwards compatibility with old maps or just general fear of change.
This is the first time they are adding a new generic unit line to the game since like AoK. Everything else was just single super situational units (Petard and Siege Tower), upgrades (Halberdier and Hussar), earlier units in a line (Demolition Raft and Fire Galley) and regional units (Eagle Warrior, Steppe Lancer, Battle Elephant, etc.).
and campaigns! Many campaigns would need rework!
Thats what I mean with maps. Many official and fan made scenarios would break.
Why upgrade Demos as a single line when other ships upgrade together? Paying 850 resources just to upgrade a nerfed suicide unit, while you can upgrade all three ships for 965 resources?
I hope Demo Ships won’t end up useless.
I think they just can’t. As far as I know even modders can’t. It is hard coded.
BTW, I can see 3 empty places - One for Elite CG upgrade and Two for UUs. So why we need to remove Demo Ship from all civs with UU? Am I missing something?
There always needs to be a reserved spot for the “go back to work” function.
Yes and no. I’ve never heard about them having sone siege type ship, like trebuchet mounted canou.
Yes they did not build cannons to fit on galleons, but they may have stolen some…But then why does the sails switches to their mesoamerican style.
It’s kind hard here because it’s more of a gameplay core element that have no real equivalent historically. That’s where game balance vs game immersion comes in discussion and it’s always hard to find a proper way to deal with that.
Here I think the choice was to avoid unbalancing, as it’s the first rework on the naval warfare. With time they will maybe adapt cannon galeon for those civs to a more immersive unit, like dromon for some romanish style civs, or lou chan, etc.
But let’s be honnest, why a Cannon Galleon breaks the immersion where an European CHAMPION swordguy doesn’t for Mesoamerican civs ? If you see that I mean.
Omce upun a time the ability to add civs was hard coded, berserkers and heros being the only way to regenerate was hard coded. Many of the new bonuses weve had in the past decade have been coded regardless and proclaimed impossible so…. Why is this? Were they lying!?
Because they did not have it for 20 years? Not every civi is supposed to have a decent navy.
Maybe they can add a catapult ship in castle age. This ship will be upgraded to dromon for civilizations who already have the dromon, the other civilization will use canon galleon or Louchuan
Fire arrows are more fitting, don’t you think?
They should not put trade cog between combat ships.
This point I brought up is one I just dont comprehend. Are there hard and fast rules about what is and is not allowed to be or stay hard coded?
Let me rewrite it: Aztec were not famous for iron/steel sword making at all.
Ill start a new topic on this but how come devs and certain chosen people are allowed to discover ways to break the hard code which is tantamount to illegal
They are called devs for a reason, they have base codes so things that might seem hardcoded via AGE is not a restriction.
If your referring to modders as certain chosen people they use creative ways to make new things within the limitations of age.
No Im saying those allowed to just know how to break hard coded feel like theyve been chosen to do magic or super powers while the rest of us arent told how to make those discoveries
I wish a idea ladened normie like me could discover a new hardcode break
