Fix the “Fimbulwinter” power, It’s being unfairly countered by “Ceasefire”!

It’s not possible that a mythical age power like ‘Fimbulwinter’ can be completely countered by a classical age power like ‘Ceasefire’.
It’s truly unfair, Peace among wild wolves? That’s truly absurd. Please fix the “Fimbulwinter” power and make it like in the AOM Extended Edition.

Fimbulwinter is practically useless.

It’s not fair that all the powers of the mythic age work without any interruption except for fimbulwinter. Fimbulwinter costs a lot of favor to be fully countered by ceasefire! Please be fair to the users who play as the Norses.

Fimbluwinter is simultaneously the most underpowered and the most overpowered god power in the game.

It scales linearly with the number of settlements your enemies control.
In a 1v1 that is likely just 3, in the most extreme case, a 12 player FFA it would be 33 settlements.
That makes the godpower absolutely overpowered.

In wonder age it is currently completely OP in team games. The cooldown starts while it’s ongoing so you can just cast it back to back.
In a 6v6 it’s not that hard for one team to get wonder out.

Fimbluwinter should maybe be only limited to a certain number of TCs but then be made stronger.
Maybe it could have a secondary effect that justifies all the ice it creates like slowing down production rates on buildings or something.

Fimbulwinter should be reverted to the original (max 4 TCs or 1 per player in team or ffa), shields from other GP. Wolves should be buffed to be 2x the stats in original. Simple as that.

I just generally think it’s a bad god power.

If feels boring to use and it feels annoying to fight against it.

Maybe it should be more targeted.
Like have wolfs spawn in a chosen area. Just make the area relatively large and allow casting it without vision.
That would mean you can hit almost the entire base of one player, making it easier to balance for different player numbers.

Having an “annoy enemy” button is not really all that cool.

the problem is that those wolves manage to destroy a TC and the towers… come on, it’s too much. If the towers managed to kill them it would already be different, but if cast 2-3 times it destroys your entire economy and all your TCs. It should be made so that the wolves only hit one player and not all of them together, that would be enough in my opinion

You have to compare that to the massive damage an earthquake, meteor shower or tornado can do.
All of those are extremely destructive and will cause a lot more damage in a 1v1.

Doesn’t it stop already buildings from shooting and also the unit production?

I think that itself makes it strong enough to get a nerf. Less wolves but maybe buff the wolves dmg or something. That plus only spawn on TCs and not on settlements too maybe?

Also yea ceasefire always was totally busted and a way too strong counter for higher tier GPS… it’s even more unfair since the other civs don’t have such a GP. I like the idea buthe duration should get nerfed more.

It just spawns wolves at every TC.

That would effectively change nothing. How many Settlements are still empty in the Mythical Age?

I need to test this cause in my mind I saw wolves spawning on settlements also and I tried train units during an attack and it stopped but maybe i just had pop limit. But here you have your “more sense to the ice” if it doesn’t t do it it could do it as a compensation buff for the rest of nerfs it hopefully will get.

I think it should be:

  • Spawns wolves in targeted area (big area)
  • Slows down all enemy production by 50% globally
  • Blocks all enemy god powers
  • Cooldown only starts after the effect ends

This way there is still a global effect but it doesn’t scale that extreme with higher player numbers.
Blocking other god powers would be a nice side effect and also just completely prevents it from being blocked by ceasefire.

Eclipse should also block enemy god powers again.

Good ideas! Now I am more satisfied :slight_smile: hopefully a dev reads this or you could write a ticket cause I think generally these ideas here are solid and would help the balance :slight_smile:

All of the mythical age powers need to be powerful because they require the most favor but none of them should be countered by a classical age power like Ceasefire as that would be totally unfair and that is the reason for this post.

Regarding your logic, then all powers must be reduced. That is not the topic of discussion. Can you imagine that I could use the ceasefire to stop earthquakes, tornadoes, lightning storms, etc.? That would be totally unfair.

Fimbulwinter is completely countered by ceasefire. It only lasts 5 seconds after the ceasefire. This is a total injustice. The developers are not doing anything to fix the ceasefire. It is too much of an advantage for the Greeks. The developers should either remove the ceasefire or make it not interfere with the duration of another power.

I’m more than fine with Fimbulwinter preventing Ceasefire to be casted, but Fimbul spam definitely needs a nerf ASAP in team games. It is killing team games.

Nah, these two would make Age V lesser fun.

The thing is Fimbulwinter becomes extremely game-breaking overpowered during multi-player skirmish, and Age V Fimbulwinter spamming is game-breaking, much more game-breaking than Sets’ Vision God Power sets.

If they can increase the cooldown to leave us some breathing room, it will be better already.

They need to make the Fimbulwinter Wolves stats not scale off Wonder Age. I know they are myth units, but there is no reason for them to be.

After that change, you can make the godpower block Ceasefire.

Yes they could just change fimbulwinter and make the wolves ‘generic animals’ instead of ‘myth units’ (as they did with anubis’ gp “plague of serpents” ) so the wolves won’t scale in wonder age,

But ceasefire should be able to block fimbulwinter and other godpowers regardless; that’s the whole point of the godpower, otherwise it’d require a massive rework to stay relevant in heroic or later ages now that only lasts for 30 seconds in retold.

A power from the classical age cannot be compared to a power from the mythical age that requires a lot favor
