Okay, that relic dow 3 dropped game is bad. I may udnerstand that many afraid about aoe 4. But before talking that f*ck relic, must die, aoe 4 is trash, maybe at least wait for gamepaly trailer, hmmmm? And for that who talking that relci dropped aoe 4 even before a year, if you afraid, just wait for the first expansion, but stop butchering and ruining the last AAA-RTS new game on horizont. We know nothing, stop butchering game without any reason, just stop. It’s stupid. We don’t have any info to talking that game will be already success or already fail. Thank you.

Too late for what? We aren’t developing the game, they are. We can voice our concerns and tell them what we want or don’t want to see in the game, but in the end it’s up to them to make it. And I don’t think the constant whining about things we don’t know anything about helps at all. You guys construct things out of thin air just to have something you can complain about. We don’t have any clue yet!

I don’t want whining on Relic’s work but no communications and no feedback with fans (only few of them played the alpha) It was the failure behind of Dow3.

As an AoEIII player who enjoys PvE and serenity of the maps and scenarios, i have my fears about the game being a ■■■■■■ tournament MOBA game. The balance between being both a PvP and PvE game was great in AoEIII if one truly searched for their desired gameplay instead of jumping right into a random server.
In previous AoE games, campaing was mostly “hold ground, build up, go on offensive” instead of having to react to random attacks and events. Nevertheless, colonizing Americas was very amusing. Playing Company of Heroes series and Warhammer 40.000: Dawn of War I - II’s campaigns, i can say that if Relic doesnt intend to water down RTS to RTT as they did in Dawn of War series, AoE IV will provide great balance between base building and sudden disturbances that will enliven the campaign.
I wanna bet on AoE IV bringing about another golden age to RTS games. I place my hopes on a new competetion between AoE and C&C with great results for players.

With the OP’s sentiments. Relic dropped the ball on DOW 3, yes, but that’s ONE blemish on an otherwise spectacular record. A big enough blemish that I am positive they learnt a lesson from. Heck, enough that they decided to stop letting it weigh them down at all and just take another shot with a new project, something that I can personally sympathize with (even if it is at a muuuuuch smaller scale).
I am also fairly certain that Microsoft itself is taking a direct interest enough to ensure the project goes according to expectations, instead of just repeating the last few years of releases (prior to 2017). The fact that AOE 2 HD received as much support as it did, plus the green light for the DE editions, suggests they really want this franchise to come back to its former glory. For that to happen, AOE 4 being Age of Empires 4 instead of “A new MOBA in the critically acclaimed Age series” is probably a little important to them…
Anyway, again. Relic is a pretty well established studio that has historically known what the heck it’s doing. They have ONE outright failure. It’s somewhat petty for everyone to hold that against them like they’ve never managed to do anything right…
I read yesterday that the CEO of Relic entertainment is actually a friend of Bruce Shelley himself( the lead developer of aoe1,2,3,aom, civilisation, settlers7 and anno). Bruce Shelley even talked in an interview that he actually plays boardgames with the CEO of Relic when they are together. That is really good news. So the CEO knows age of empires much better then us…

Does anyone think maybe Microsoft told them to end their DOW to fully concentrate on AOE 4. Everyone needs to relax. They don’t owe us nothing as for showing us material. There are literately maybe 200 people who think that AOE4 is gonna fail. Quit making it sound like the whole community thinks that. There are millions of people who will buy the game without ever visiting this forum. Maybe even millions of people who have no idea AOE 4 is even being developed. Relax take a chill pill and quit jumping to speculation about a failure.
