Hello, a few months ago the developers launched a mod that allows us to control the camera to a much better degree. It works great but has a few quirks that I believe are preventing it from actually being utilized. For one, it is selected as a Game Mode and can’t really be stacked on top of other game modes. But, another big issue is that cheats can’t really be used with it. This may not sound like a problem, but this mod is the closest the casual player has gotten to having access to a type of Scenario Editor where they can make armies and take pictures. Right now, it takes a looot of effort to do that (as you need to make the armies yourself and get the resources to do this).
I’m aware that casting tools have been cast aside for a long time now, and that there are lots of issues people would want fixed first, but I would also love to see this tool more readily available to casters in particular. There are plenty of moments of action in AoE4, but also many moments of calm–moments where a Caster, or organization may hotkey cameras to certain areas for cinematic viewing. Of massive armies being prepared or of clashes. In general, AoE4 can be beautiful if given the chance.
For presentation, there may be a few issues–everything outside the game’s borders is “unknown”, and appears black which ruins natural shots. Or how overwhelming artificial fog can get. But, otherwise, this is a great tool that unfortunately is just too underbaked to be utilized frequently; and I believe, that it has great potential if given the proper adjustments.
