This is about my experience in single player (skirmish). So the lag is not ping based. I also have a powerful though older generation desktop PC that should easily run the game: 32GB RAM, i7 8700K, RTX 2080 TI. So the issue is not network nor hardware related AFAICT.

Before the patch it would occasionally happen that I’d get a hang but now it is much more frequent. Five to ten times per half-hour game. The game freezes (can still move cursor, units stop moving, no sound) for 2-5 seconds, and then continues as if nothing happened. It’s not jitter or typical lag, it’s really a freeze. It might be related to player (even AI) clicking up, but I am not 100% sure.

EDIT: it just happened at the start of a game (six villagers in). A freeze followed by the game closing without any error message. Getting quite frustrating to enjoy the game, not going to lie.

EDIT 2: tried disabling all mods to no avail. Still freezing.

I’m also experiencing this issue. However for me I can still move the cursor around yet absolutely everything else is frozen for a few seconds and then continues as normal. The game doesn’t skip ahead or anything it continues from where it froze.
It also occurs in the menu screen.
I tried disabling all mods and it didn’t do anything, the freezes were still happening.

I did ‘verify file integrety’ and got the same after it as well in my next game.

Same issues, ultra annoying. Disabled all mods and verified files but that didn’t seem to work

Yeah, same issue for me. Prior to this patch, there only used to be small hitch every few mins or so (probably related to creating an autosave), but now the game freezes for a few seconds at seemingly random moments.

Same issue very annoying in multiplayer.

Every 5-6 ingame minutes i get a 15 ingame seconds long freeze, after which the game speeds up and tries to catch up

Question, did a lot of unit died during the gameplay before the freeze occured ? (from the start up to the freeze)

No. It also occurs in dark age when nothing is really happening.

Okay, thought it could come from the fact that decayed bodies leave now a perma pixel pack in screen, but seems it’s not that.

I’ve got the same issue, and i try all the things mentioned. Even uninstalling a reinstalling the game, deactivating AMD Graphics Software improvements, V-Sync on the game, etc., and still frezees.
When i start and skirmish or multiplayer game, after 30 seconds of game i’ve got the first freeze

I also have 3/4 freezes per game. it freezes for several seconds. :cold_face:

I got the same problem. Freeze and take about 10 seconds to keep on.

Verify the file, close all mods, change language. All the thing i tried does not help.

As i turn to XboX, the freeze does not appear all the game.

I think it might be Steam’s auto save function to cause this problem.

Me too .I mainly playing 1v1 rank games. After update, when I start a game it freezes secs and then showed no responding. After the window warning disappear，in game suddenly accelerate very fast to finish what happen lasts past secs…During a game,it would appear about 4 5 times

there is no auto save on multiplayer tho, so it cant be that

Maybe i should say “auto restore” or “cloud problem”, as somebody disconnect, the game will auto save to restore. However, i got to say, it’s my guess. If i use Xbox platform to play this game, i don’t have this problem.

I have the same issue. Doesn’t appear to be linked to anything in-game - just a random 5-10 second hang during a game. Happens 2-3 times per game.
