Future civs

Two new civs:

Spanish (to set up addition of meso American civs later on)

  • The first proper Imperial gunpowder civ.
  • Strong spearman variant Pikeman. Lower pierce armor, higher damage against infantry and cavalry. Longer reach, even more than Abbasids.
  • Strong hand cannoneer variant Musketeer. Higher rate of fire.
  • Unique upgrade Tercio. Pikeman and Musketeer movement speeds increase if they are near each other.

Mewar (proper Hindu Indian civ)

  • Probably a single player campaign centered around their struggle against Delhi and later Mughals.
  • Strong elephant, cavalry, and archer civ.
  • Relies on mobility and ranged attacks to fend against a numerically superior and much larger foe.

I don’t think a Hindu civ should be a variant. From architecture to the language spoken, everything will be different.

Variants, or, a new concept, “civilization class”:

New “civilization class” called “British Isles.” Make English a class member.
New civilization: Scots within the class. Irish within the class.

Mongols > Timurids
Rus > Muscovites
Delhi > Mughals
Malian > Songhai

Ottoman >??? Some military order within the Ottoman empire? I don’t know.

I personally think that HRE should have been split to Spanish Empire or Habsburg Spain. It thematically fits the Castle Age to Imperial Age centric civ like HRE too.
It was religious, so the prelate mechanic would work well. Switch out a few MAA tech with the aforementioned Tercio mechanic, I think the civ would have been fine.
Slightly change the models of Landmarks and their names, but keep the bonuses similar or same. Change the language spoken. At least we wouldn’t have this balance nightmare called Order of the Dragon with us.

Hello GoldenArmorX I hope you are very well  I like many of your suggestions. I think that if the developers make a variant of the Byzantines it should be the Empire of Nicaea. My idea would be that this variant has the mechanics of choosing between 2 options: the Stratēgos who is a military leader who empowers military units with unique technologies. The other option would be the Patriarch, which benefits the economy and religion.

This variant of the Byzantines can have unique units such as: Skoutatos heavy infantry, Toxotei, Siphonarioi infantry (would replace the Handcannoneer), Acontistae javelin thrower (would replace the crossbowman), Dynatoi (heavy cavalry armed with a steel mace).

Then new mercenary units: Crimean Goths, Latinikoi, Tourkopouloi, Skythikon, Almogávars and in the Dock you can recruit Viking Drakkars.

Some unique technologies: Greco-Roman tactics (when infantry units are grouped they gain +1 armor), Accurate Shot: Toxotei’s arrows do more damage but their rate of fire is slower. Siege: Chemical Warfare (Trebuchet can drop animal carcasses that temporarily poison affected enemy units). Call the militias: when the Town Center bell is rung, the villagers, instead of taking refuge inside the building, temporarily become militias. Monastic Medicine: Cistern buildings unlock the option to heal nearby units that are not in combat. Greetings.
