Future of the franchise... what happens after AOMR is released?

they will release it in september. then end of the year dezember shortly before christmas chinese will come. then in spring around april/may they will introduce us to the completely new civ. after that they will annouce two new civs in summer 2025 a long with 1 - 3 Major God packs. after that they recognise how good these sell and how (hopefully) greatly the game gets approaved by ciritics, fans and general players. so they announce they are going to work on AoM2 in either winter 2025 or during 2026.

That is a very optimistic timeline.
I think the Chinese DLC will not arrive this year and the 2nd DLC will likely release a year after the main game.
AoM2 will not be announced before 2030.

Yes, it was expected…consider Retold as a mythological AoE 3 DE, just as the original AoE 3 was a colonial AoM…

Too bad, I hoped that the streak of remasters would not be cut… we would still need AoEO DE in 2026 (for the 15 years of the original game) and RoN DE in 2028 (for the 25 years of the original game), but it makes sense that they will be busy with dlcs for Retold and AoE 2 and 3 DE…AoM 2 by Relic in 2028 may be…

Yes, hopefully…we need more RTS in the coming years…

Yes, you’re right, I also criticized its Disney-style cartoon aesthetic, but then I played it in 2017 and said “eh, it’s very good” and now I’m waiting for the Indians to come out…

Yes, I think they will balance it based on AoE 3…

Yes, I agree, I don’t expect a new AoE for several years (if AoM 2 comes out in 2027, AoE 5 will come out in 2033)…

Yes, they are going to intersperse Retold dlcs with those of AoE 3 DE and in addition they will continue the AoE 2 dlcs as always…

Yes, the saga is in a new golden age like in the 2000s (2000-2007)…

Well, I’m afraid of these experiments. The civs variants in AoE 4 are just garbage spam - wasted potential. RoR is probably already dead and it is difficult to find a way to develop it in the future (releasing DLC to DLC???). V&V DLC due to the lack of new civs, it does not encourage purchase.

The best DLC models for games in this series are simply classic expansions. I don’t want exciting disappointments, just cool classic ############## [/quote]

It’s true…it is what it is…

Na, AoM is not like 3 DE, if they balance the game cultures well while they are still few, it will do well…

Yes, hopefully that’s the idea… AoM is the Age that can unify the entire classic community (both AoE 2 and AoE 3); AoE 4 is more to attract new people to the saga (mainly from SC2 and MOBAS)…

Yes, it may be that AoM will have several dlcs for several years until 2030:

2025:DLC 1 (Tale of the Dragon/Chinese)

2026:DLC 2 (Return of the Gods/Aztecs)

2027:DLC 3 (Babylonians)

2028:DLC 4 (Celts)

2029:DLC 5 (Indians)

2030:DLC 6 (Slavs)

2031:DLC 7 (Yorubas)

2032:AoM 2 launch

This Is my Hope. A new game set in the ancient time with moved by a new engine (not Essence Engine) and not by Relic.

Future for AOMR: at least 2 new DLC / civs. Future for the series: Unsure, but there was that survey a year or so ago asking participants what they wanted in a future title. I assume we’ll get AoE5 in the next few years, my guess is set in ancient time.

Could there be a game completely focused on the Bronze Age, long before the existence of the Roman Empire? In AOE-1 there are civilizations that never converged in time, such as the Romans and the Sumerians. Separating the Bronze Age from the Iron Age to give more uniqueness and representation to these periods I think would be ideal, and we could potentially have up to 2 or 3 different games. A game set in the Bronze Age, and I think we could have 2 games set in classical Greco-Roman antiquity.

The soundtrack of AOE-1 is very good, and could be one of the things that could be rescued for a game like this.
