Hello everyone,
I am a long-time veteran player of AoE4 (Level 271, over 1,000+ hours played), and I am currently facing a game-breaking issue that makes it impossible for me to progress or enjoy the game. To be honest, I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed with how this is being handled.
Every time I finish a match (Multiplayer or even Singleplayer Skirmish against AI), the game gets stuck forever on the message: “Wird abgerufen… Wartet auf den Abruf der Spielergebnisse vom Server” (Waiting to retrieve match results from the server). No XP, masteries, or rewards are being saved.
According to my unhandled log files, the exact technical error is:
Encoded slot size of 2076 too large
It seems my veteran profile data has bloated over the years and now permanently exceeds the 2048-byte server limit.
I have already contacted the official support multiple times, provided all logs, and did all local troubleshooting (clearing cache, resetting profile cosmetics to default, wiping local folders, reinstalling). Support confirmed the issue is “under active investigation” by the game team, but they ultimately told me they have no ETA and cannot even guarantee a fix with the next update.
I feel completely left in the dark by the support team. I have spent my hard-earned money on this game and its expansions, and now I am locked out of the core experience just because I played the game a lot and reached a high level. It feels like I am being punished for being a loyal fan.
With the new Raiders of the North expansion coming out at the end of October, I really want to buy the DLC and continue leveling my account, but as it stands, I cannot justify spending more money on a broken product where my progression is permanently frozen.
Has anyone else with a high-level account successfully managed to get around this server-side limit? Is there any community fix, or is there a way to finally grab the attention of a developer who can manually reset my database slot?
