Since update #66692 the game chat locks the game after keyboard arrows are pressed. Sometimes it already starts locked. You can’t type anymore and you can’t go out of the chat with the escape key. You have to pick the mouse and click outside of the chat area. After that you can type again.

This bug has already been reported. But the threads were deleted under the argument that the bug was already being adressed. If it was the case, i don’t see why deleting the threads would help anything. But it’s not even added to the “List of unfixed bugs” and was not fixed in the last update #71094.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Open game chat during a game and check that it is working ok
  2. Press the keyboard left arrow and check that the game and the chat are locked
  3. Click with the mouse outside the chat area to unlock the game

:point_down: What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

You should be able to type chat always without being locked

Repeating only this part in case it wasn’t read:

This bug persists on update 73855 and it is not listed in the bug lists.

This bug is STILL present in the PUP beta - it’s really annoying getting locked while in game for such a common thing as to use the arrow keys

Note that this also happens if you use the arrow keys in the in-game mod publisher and this forces you to alt-f4 after you get stuck

Yes! The quick chat is still broken at least 50% of the time. It is either this locking issue, replacing completely neutral language with “#######”, or “Error: Invalid encoding.”.

This should be considered of high importance, as it ruins social aspects of the game (including etiquette), as well as coordination (and education) within teams.

Just a reminder that this still hasnt been fixed even with the latest patch. What is going on?
