It does sound like corrupted save data, which is one of the most frustrating bugs you can have in a game (losing potentially dozens of hours of progress). Usually, it happens if the game crashes during saving or you force quit it, did something like this happen before you first noticed the corrupted save data?
If you follow this guide. There was an error message on the last game I played before the crash, but the game seemed to continue OK. It wasn’t until after resuming the campaign that it failed to load. I’ve now passed the point of that error and continued on the campaign. It’s worth storing your saved games locally instead of the cloud to make it easier to delete the last save in case it becomes corrupt.
This may not work for you, but for me, if I click on single player → resume mission, it works fine.
If you’re looking to fix the crash whether or not you can continue playing, I have no clue what can fix it.
But if you just want to continue your mission, I hope this works
My game crashes regularly after 1 hour or 2 during skirmish. I play with 7 AIs and somewhere in the middle of the game it crashes. If I saved prior it’s fine and I can continue without problem usually, however since there is no autosave feature and I am forgetting to save often I end up replaying hours at times which is usually not worth it and I just make a new game, which is frustrating since I want to see the victory screen.
I don’t change any settings and my PC is also quite fine, game is on an SSD with enough space, 32gb of Ram, geforce 2080 and so on.
The error message is the same as the guy in this post reported so I didn’t make a new post. I hope you can see this message though.
So the error usually points to the RelicCardinal.exe, EventID is 1000 and EventData is:

I hope you can identify and fix this error, but even if not please please implement an autosave feature.
