Game crashes to desktop without error message

  • Platform Steam

Issue:

I have had this issue since launch day, the game just crashes to desktop without warning or any error messages. It usually happens during Imperial age and only on Skirmish and not during campaigns but i haven’t tried the new campaigns yet.

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Launch a normal Skirmish game against AI or multiplayer
  2. play the game like normal
  3. Boom the game just crashes at random times but mostly during Imperial age

Please fix this, I am desperate i want to play and enjoy the game.

I believe i have narrowed down the cause of the crashes. I did a few AI 4v4 matches to see if the game crashes with AI only and it does not. Then i noticed that the AI does not have the new queueing system that was intoduced in DE, Maybe that is the problem?

Before we dive into troubleshooting, there are a ton of steps we’ve written up to help with some of the most common issues. If you haven’t already, make sure you work through each of the steps here:

If none of those work for you, the most helpful information you can provide are any error logs related to the crash, which should be located in one of these folders:

  • C:\Users<WINDOWS USERNAME>\AppData\Local\age2_x1\logs
  • …\Users\UserName\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\logs
  • In the Windows Event Viewer

We could also use a copy of your dxdiag.txt, as this will help us diagnose any hardware issues that might be causing problems.

Edit: I noticed my Graphics Driver was outdated so i updated it, Still crashes.

Same problem. I played online multiplayer and crash without error message. Almost every time. The game is unplayable.

Game still crashes in the same way after the new update.

I got the same issue, is there any progress for this? I m really tired of this.
