Game crashing after 7.0.5861 update

I have never had any problems with this game, until now. After 7.0.5861 update the game randomly crashes, sometimes after 10 min, sometimes after 1 hour, completely random. The game freezed for a few seconds then hard crash to desktop. I have tried repairing game files, reinstalled game, made sure I have newest NVIDIA graphics drivers and everything else, but the problem persist. Please fix it, this was never a problem before. My setup: Intel i7-1065G7, NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti with Max-Q Design, 16GB RAM, Windows 11 (22H2 build 22621.1928), installed from Xbox app, Game Pass.

also been getting this crashing playing multiplayer very frequent after season 5 update

I’ve been crashing once every 4 games now with the rollout of season 5… NO explanation, no age up… just in the middle of the game, it crashes. Very annoying…

yeah me too since season 5 i played around 35 games of team ranked and crashed around 6 times already leading to a loss. also enemy players had similar stuff seems like where one will drop without a reason, its not like he was losing or smth. sometimes it happens on age up, but 4 times out of 6 has been random. only 2 times on aging up.

I am crashing as well. I Specifically receive de-sync error on volcanic island map.

after the hotfix that supposed fixed the crashing on age up, i just crashed again on age up.
No mods here except royal rumble. lets hope for a proper fix on the 20th of July update.

Update 20th July: The latest update did not help one bit. I stil have the same problem as before. The game is unplayable, I cannot finish a single game of Aoe4. I have built a completely new computer now, in the hopes that this was related to my own laptop, but no, even with my new desktop I have the same problem with crashing to desktop mid/late game.

For me, even after Update 8.1.185 it is randomly crashing and frightening to always getting the game closed for no reason

I have the same problem, it happens randomly while playing, there is not’ a correlation with what happens on the screen, crush and that’s it, I thought they had solved, but this and’ too frustrating

I 'came a doubt, you have these DLC? Now I try to turn them off, to see if it still happens

AoE4 crashes in multiplayer mode - crashes to me and my son with same error. Different computers, CPU, GPU…
Antivirus stopped, antimalware stopped, backgroup apps stopped. Games reinstalled.

Any recommendations?

Seems to be solved. Running game under administrator rights helps. (Run As Administrator).

Hi, I seem to have the same issue, but it’s not resolved with running with administrator rights. Just seems to crash 3 seconds into the intro video and can seem to fix by reinstalling graphics drivers. Installed from Xbox app, Game pass. I’m running it on my Lenovo Legion, Intel i5-8300H, GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5, RAM: 8GB DDR4, installed on SSD main drive. Xbox claims that the game should run properly, and is within the minimum specs. Update November 23th: This problem still persist with version 9.1.176.0, not a fix in sight. This is getting really freaking annoying. It’s been like this since early July. Developers! FIX THIS NOW! Your fans are running out of patience!

Update December 8th 2023:
The random crash problem still persists with the new game version 9.1.370.0. This is seriously maddening. Me and a friend were playing multiplayer vs a few AIs, about 20 minutes into the game my game just hard crashed, no freezing, no stutter, not nothing - just plain quitting the game to desktop.

This is seriously ruining an otherwise absolutely amazing and super exciting, high-quality game, me and my AoE4 gamer friend group (6-8 people) love to play a few times a week whenever we have the time. But at this point it’s not worth even trying a single multiplayer game, because at least one of use (usually most of us) will crash somewhere between 15 mins to 90 mins into the game. Almost always. Completely ruining all the fun we otherwise would have had.

Don’t the developers notice this thread? This obviously common problem? Shouldn’t they at least acknowledge the issue and try to fix it before adding more stuff to the game? We all think balancing the civs and units is important, but a problem this huge is way more important to clean up and fix. And the silence from the devs is deafening. Come on devs. Fix this already. At least acknowledge there is a serious and wide-spread crash-problem and that you are looking into it? It seems to get worse with each update and patch the game gets and it makes no sense. We have tried talking directly to the customer support team and everything they suggest we have tried a thousand times over.

We are very close to giving up this game for good, as sad as that would be, we can’t keep wasting time with a game that almost always (98% of the time) crashes mid-game for no apparent reason. I would love nothing more for this game to become the biggest and best and most popular it could possibly be but given this situation I see no future - especially when the devs are completely silent. I even spent close to $3000 on building a completely new desktop entirely so that I could run this beautiful game at maximum graphical settings in 4K HDR and always have 120+ fps.

Please guys, help me lift this problem up the ladder, make the devs notice and look into what is wrong with the game and then fix it ASAP. Maybe it’s an easy fix, maybe it’s a complicated issue - who knows - but please help me get the attention of the devs. Please? :pensive:

I recently bought the game and I’ve been having the same issue. I’ve only been able to play 1 full multiplayer game without crashing so far… Quite disappointing! Please let me know if you find a resolution. Thanks.
